That's right, if you don't have a DOT # then you don't have to pull into scales at all.
Best thing to do is IF you are pulled over... you're going to test the car, you're not racing for any $$ NEVER tell them that, then it's 100% a business, and you need to have all the DOT, log books, CDL, etc.
Make sure the trailer and truck aren't over the GVW either, they'll nail ya on that too.

being over weight is not a fun ordeal i got hit twice in like 2 years lost my licence and tons of fines second time was a set up by a local it was thrown out
