That sucks — what kind of work do you do?

Do you have a week of vacation time?

I got laid off in April and just now found a job. I was in engineering in the Baltimore area. Damn lucky as my severance just ran out also. It will work out for you I am sure. If you are in my field let me know and I will help out any way I can.

Sorry to hear about this. I was a summer hire (almost intern like deal) and they just told me they are cutting me short like 3 weeks because of budget. Atleast they gave you a heads up so you can start looking for something else right away.

It was more of a voluntary lay off because I pretty much had it. My boss has been undermining me for the last 3 months and i just found out monday she was looking for a way to fire me, so I approached the VP asked to be transferred and he said no so i said then let me go. He told me next Friday which doesnt make sense but whatever. I'm thinking it will happen later today.

I am a warehouse manager but I've done production supervising for the last 5 years in the same company.

Maybe you could find a way to undermine her car right off a cliff?

been laid off from 2 jobs in the past 3 years. both times i upgraded ($) and i have a great job now. good luck and it sounds like it may have been a good thing, nothing like hating your job and being in a place that has no room for advancement.

Bummer. Good move making sure you can collect. Make certain it's recorded on paper that way.

Unemployment office moves damn slow, so be ready for a long wait. Hopefully you have some cash reserves.
