MIR Track RENTAL UPDATE!!!! LOOK ASAP!!!
#161
OK SERIOUS UPDATE for a moment
UPDATE as of 12/14/10
The people at the track will be there at 8:30am whether we come or not. Talked to Jason today. The track temps will be VERY cold in the morning due to dropping into the 20's the night before. At a previously arranged rental by Ranger on here they waited till almost 12pm to start running due to track temps. If someone would like to bring a Temp sensor to read the track would be good the track doesnt have one. Jason informed me the track will be prepped only one time in the morning when WE say we are ready and want to give it a whirl. If the track gets slick or can't get enough hook there may not be much they can do about it and running the JET costs $400.00 a hour. So pretty much not a option! Jason said they will do their best as always but do not want to us to be unhappy if the track doesnt hook in such cold temperatures. It is up to us to determine if we feel safe to run and still want to do this rental this year. I need EVERYONES input on this is a go and how we would like to go about this!
My input would be its still a go, we get there around 9am check things out maybe have everyone go for a breakfast some where close by if we would prefer to wait for temps to rise and return shortly there after check the track and have them prep it once we're ready. Probably start running later say 11-12pmish and we will be absolutely done and out of there by 5pm due to they have their company Christmas party that evening so 5pm we are to be out. 5hours with 11-15cars is enough time to get a GABOON of runs in and set some records IMO

Do we want/can we postpone it until it gets a bit warmer? Maybe February? I don't care either way, but if its going to be THAT cold, I think we're gonna have a hell of a time getting **** to hook.

Well several guys from corvette forum did run last week and got new bests in the same temps. Last year they all got new bests at the same track in lower temps. Just making sure with the money involved that everyone is on the same page and fully understands. As for hooking 8second cars hooked last year. Now I think our 9-10-11-14/cheeks cars can hook this year I would think.

However would like to screw around and get a feel for the car and heat cycle on my tires before they prep the track... My tires never hook after the first burnout...

MikeP- I do have to tell you... if you go out there sliding around and dont get out of it right away they will kick us out. NO BS!!!! So think about it, go about things smarter and do things safely. Absolutely no joking around here! Can the car move around a little yes but if you go out there like what you've been doing we will be F'd!!!! So keep these things in mind.... try running the car down through part throttle and working your way into it. Maybe reduce some power to obtain a great run instead of a full all out powered stupid run. Seriously consder all of that. Once again absolutely no joking here at all!

WTF are you talking about? SCrew around where? Heat cycle your tires where? Why dont your tires hook after the first burnout and when did that start happening?

best way to get a track to come around is making a lot of back to back passes in someone elses rubber patch...works even better if they allow you to do a burnout pass the line...
I pulled my 1.29 in 38* weather with about 4 cars at the track...no prep at all, zero tack, but we kept laying down slick rubber and soon it was golden

i have a sugestion for you guys......track conditions definitly a big concern, why not ask if they would prep a preferred lane, instead of both lanes, that way youll at least get more vht on one lane, sucks for anybody wanting to run a buddy , but at least you get a better shot at personal bests , might be alot safer too!!
