Default A little weight reduction

Took a little weight off the front of my car last week. Needs to be painted but it looks ok gel coated for now. It only weighs 12lbs.

Do you have a picture of the rails/mounts under the hood? I'm curious what you did there.

I used aluminum flat bar. I copied tektrans from his pictures he posted a long time ago. I will take some more pics with the hood off later today and post them up. It wasn't too bad but it takes a lot of time to get them lined up straight.

Thanks man. I'm doing more cutting then most people read about in the front of my car.... but it's nice to see how people do these things, in case someone has a different way or idea, that might work out better then what I had originally came up with.

Looks good.

Here are more pics of the brackets. Pretty simple really. Just takes time to get them bent right.

I'm a little confused but, why do you need custom mounts for the hood? Doesn't the normal hood latch work? My superhawk hood is around 14lbs and just a normal stock latch hood. What is the function of the aluminum rails over a normal latch hood?

Its not a bolt on hood.. its a pin-on

I know it's pin on, im saying why pin instead of bolton with the latch and all the normal stuff. If they both weigh the same weight wise, why choose a pin on over a bolton with latch? Or is it just personal looks preference or for easy removal basically?

they don't weigh the same...pinon is lighter since it has no inner structure needed for bolt ons. you can then also lose the hinges and latch assembly that have a few lbs of weight.

what fireball said. Not to mention the pin on hoods tend to cost less than some bolt on hoods.
