NOVA Guys with LTs Anyone in here with long tubes that lives in NOVA and has to go through the emissions BS here? I really want to put long tubes on my car but I also need to be able to pass emissions every two years. I would run a Y pipe with cats, but I know some people say that if you move the cats they can fail you. I'm also not looking to swap out Y pipes every two years just to get an inspection.
Let me hear how you guys get by and any advice you have.

In CT, the law basically states you can only remove the cat when your going to be replacing it with a new one. Or for testing purpouse (see test pipe). Also the Cat cannot be removed from "Factory" location.
Hence by that 2nd rule, almost every LT set up would be illegal.
BUT most visual inspections do not care about where the CAT is located as much as there is a CAT on the car.

from my understanding here the emissions is based off the county you register in. some only do a visual, some only do a smog test, some do both. I know there are guys here running LT's though.
I have had my LT's years. but i get my emissions done under the table in chantilly. however when you register the car next time. put down that its garaged in fauquier county. they dont have emissions requirements. if you do that then you wont have to get it done. BUT, as long as the car isnt throwing any codes it should pass emissions just fine. they dont normally put them on the rollers anymore. they now just plug into your obd port.

Verdad Gallardo That's true. So as long as the car doesn't have any codes I should be fine I'm guessing? I can't imagine every emissions inspector knows where the cats are located on every car on the road.
Does the DMV require proof of the car being registered in a different county? I live in Fairfax County and have no ties to Fauquier. I'm trying to get a hook up with an emissions inspector through work but I don't how that will go. Where in Chantilly do you get your car done?

U will pass emissions as long as u aren't throwing a code...I don't know why everyone thinks its so hard to pass hell I passed with my old car that had lt's, true duals and heads and cam. Also u don't need proof to change your garage jurisdiction and u can actually change it online, if u go in to change it some of the clerks will question u even though they aren't supposed to.
