Default Anyone have a Torsion Bar Tool???

i need to use a torsion bar removal tool for a day anyone got ne or knows where to rent one need it for my silverado thanks

huge c clamp also works, or if you happen to have a ball joint press, they work too. I don't personally like the actual tool

I use just the clamp from a ball joint press if u dont have one and your on your back doing it a bottle jack and a 15mm or so impact socket on top of the bottle jack or regular jack will work

8inch c clamp with the flat part knocked off works great lol but the bars were seized in the keys didn't have my torch to heat them up next weekend then

yea joe the best thing to do is use a big c clamp. what you doing replacing the bars or lift keys?

I did this on my 04 silverado, take my word unless it's an old solid c clamp don't do it, I bent 4 of them and almost lost a finger, go to sears and buy a gear puller, that's what I used and it worked like a charm. 2 jaw large gear puller 7 ton capacity. 40 bucks. It locks on the outside ledge of your cross-member, snug it up and I believe it's an 18mm socket use that and crank away, Ive heard of people having it bend the flanges but it didn't personally happen to me, just my experience of what worked best for me when I switched out my keys

I have done what arctic has done...a large gear puller and it worked like a charm.

WE used smaller ones, and they're unsafe. They started bending. The amount of force used on those is surprising.
