Not that I know of or I would of done it LOL

I was told I'm 40lbs lighter than a regular 250, I can honestly say its the fastest thing I rode on the dirt, I love it in the trails power down low and up top. Just need to get this cold start thing sorted out, sounds like a valve job and I'm oing a new top end at the same time. I bought a used 06 motor with unknown hours, it was $700 with everything on it so I jumped at the deal.

You missed my meltdown, I have to do a valve job now according to vinnie, all that work he did and it fixed nothing. So I'm doing a new top end at the same time. $130 for a top end so why not.

Does the motor have a decompressor on it, like the 450R motor? It could just need that adjusted, may just need a top end valve lash done, if it's like the 450 motor's.

If ya have that head/top end off, mine as well send it to someone and have it ported/redone with new stuff too.. probably be worth about 5 hp, which at the weight you're dealing with would make a huge difference.

40 lbs lighter, that's more then I thought. That is alot... no wonder it's so fast

Be like finding a way to pull 60 lbs off my trx450. It's already fast, take 50 lbs off and it's gonna be retarded fast.

We checked valve clearance they were both at .005 but the question is what shims were used?

We are pulling the head off this week so ill know more about what's going on internally.

that will tell ya... if there's a ton of shim in there it's probably worn out. At least they're easy to work on... I was surprised how easy they are. Guess only having 1/8th the pistons makes a big difference

Lemme know what you find. Curious what the issue is.

Also, the 250 motor's, do they have the nikisil plated sleeve in them like the 450 motor or is it an iron sleeve setup? I wonder if that technology is in all the motors now. Does that 250 motor have a seperate motor and trans oil too like the 450?

That's pretty good power for a 250 stock. The 450's are only 43

you sure about that? my 05 450R makes 55hp (weighs 230 with a full tank- this thing rips!)

Maybe it is more... not sure. I could have sworn that my 07 trx 450, which is the same motor with a different gearset then the bike has is rated at 42.7 stock.

I could be wrong. If there's something different about the bike motor that makes it have a 55 hp rating.. I'd like to know.. being that the motor's are the same I'd love to just stick whatever parts in it that up the level that much

I already have a pipe and a rev/cdi box and rejetted my trx. That likly puts it in the 50+ hp range I'm sure. I've ridden stock and this one... and believe me it was night and day different power wise just from this.

Everyone tells me.. a cam in the thing is another 10 hp almost across the pwr range. That, coupled with a big jug and crank to punch it put to about 510 supposedly puts it right at about 70 hp. Which.. I'm sure would be pretty quick.
