Default Got It

Can one of our sponsors fix this our am I better off taking it to the dealer?
I need to get the Security light fixed on my T/A.
The light came on when is was 6* out and I had to move the car.
The car starts and drives fine but I can't stand having lights on my dash.
Would I be better off taking it to the dealer or does one of our sponsors do these things?
I have other work that I need to get done(Mod stuff), so I will be looking for a sponsor for that also.

P.S I want to fix the problem correctly is possible, meaning if it is going to cost $1200 to fix the security then yeah we can just bypass it instead.

Thanks. I read that and the other 500 Security light threads

I don't mess with that stuff.

I'd rather just sell the damn thing and get a Vette or trade it. I'm at the point that I don't care what they offer, I just want out.
But nobody wants a car with lights on, and I can't say I blame them.

go to a local tuner, he can shut off the vats system be alot cheaper than dealer then buy an alarm with the money you saved.

From my understanding the VATS can't simply be turned off. I really don't care about an alarm, I live in a decent neighborhood and have a garage.
I would rather just fix it correctly.

If you want a price to have it fixed just bring it to the dealer and pay the $99 diag. That will give you a good idea of where you stand with the car. It could be something simple. In my case I had to replace the entire system ~$600. Just don't take it to Lafferty Chevorlet!

Could it be something as simple as the chip in the key isn't making good contact with the cylinder in the steering column? I know if I don't have my key inserted all the way, even like a 1/16 of an inch out too far, the light will come on.

Just offering a suggestion. Maybe try getting a new key cut.

Was a new cylinder included in that $600?
I usually take my cars to Reedman but I was thinking about trying Lafferty.
While it sucks to pay $600 I would probably just get the whole thing replaced for that. Do you know what exactly they replaced?

I tried the simle things, cleaning the key, leaving the key in the on position, etc.

We delete that for $100. Pretty common nowadays.
