Default Tuned for cats... will it pass inspection without them?

Hello all, been a while since I posted.

I finally got sick of the garbage ground clearance from the TSP cat-Y and wanted to go a little louder, so I grabbed one of the new TSP offroad Y's.

My question is this. I got a slowhawk tune with the cat-Y and the car runs excellent. What are my chances of passing the sniffer inspection if I switch to a cat-less y-pipe without getting retuned? They dont do much for a visual inspection where I go, but i'm pretty sure im due for the sniffer this year.

Thanks in advance, I know everyone hates inspection questions.

There is no sniffer test in MA. My tune will pass because when I tune it I figure you'll throw them out.

In MOST cases visual is the worst thing you need to worry about, but most places are hit or miss on looking.

Yeah like Don said no sniffer, and he thought ahead and tuned them out anyway, so the only way you could fail is visual. If it's really loud they might look, do you know anyone?

Why don't you keep the catted Y pipe for inspection purposes only?

I doubt many places look underneath the car, but if they have it running in a closed shop then the exhaust smell would easily be detectable and make them look underneath.

No sniffer like others said, but inspection guys don't hold their breath during the inspection process, so I doubt you'll pass their natural sniffer test.

Thanks for the responses. I knew I would be safe on the codes aspect but I didnt know we had no sniffer... thats good news.

I dont exactly "know someone" but ive been going the same place for years and its pretty much pull in, honk the horn, check the lights, and on your way. I will be keeping the catted-Y incase they do fail me for some reason and it shouldnt be too too loud with pacesetters, offroad y and magnaflow I dont think.

Thanks again.
