Default 24x32 Garage

I've got a 24x32 garage. Shortly after I finished it I realized it was too small. The ceiling on the one side is 18' allowing me to install a Mohawk lift. The other side hasd a 12' wide second level running the entire 32'. The picture was taken shortly after the shell was comleted. I had a contractor build it, adding it to my house, taking the old garage in as additional living room space.

I've got one 16' door on the front, allowing me to back onto the lift.

Remember to install enough electrical outlets, including 220v ones for welders, compressors, etc.

Would you have it wider or deeper?

Yes,
I would have made it 4' longer and 6' wider if I could have gotten the zoning varaince. Now my wife is looking for a new (different) house. My one major wish is that it has enough property to build a new garage. I'd like at least 30'x40' with a drain/running water and a bathroom. Heat and A/C would be nice.

I'm building a 28x36 garage right now. 14' ceilings for a 2 post lift and a 4 poster down the road. Comfortable 4 car space, 6 if I squeeze em in. Price of concrete and lumber changes every day, but I have 40k into it now. That inlcuded 5k worth of fill, 6" floor on a heavier than usual mix, 2 feet of concrete walls above floor, 2x6 construction, engineered roof truss package (no posts) with a 12' wide by 8' tall attic space, (2) 10'x10' insulated doors, (2) walk through doors and 4 oversized windows. No electricity or siding as of yet. I figure on 50k with those two things added. Will look like a barn from the outside with ship lap siding. Can't wait for it to be done, but major pain in the *** trying to be the contractor. Between the weather and other delays I am about 2 weeks behind schedule.

Rule of thumb for building a garage... go as big as you can afford!

I am hoping to go 34X40 deep next to my house, just a matter of money at this point.......damn weddings! Plus I have the room for another work area out back behind my house where I'd like to put all the machine type tools, grinders drill press ect.
