then, 2nd pass. boom
His hood flew open on the first pass did you see that?
He was telling me how much drag he used to do back in the day so idk if he was a new racer. It could have been **** stories but sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Who knows

oh man...that really sucks.

You can argue who takes a stock zr1 on street tires to the drag strip as well. These cars have enough power to roast the tires at any given rpm/mph...stock. Powershifting will also increase the chance of it happening during shifts.

I'm wondering if the track doesn't fill out a report for the accident as well for their own purposes. For example if someone tries to sue them for some reason. I know you sign a waiver, but you can never be too safe.

When I went to the track years ago, I never understood the guys who stayed in it or tried to get back into it after spinning, especially on a test and tune night. What do you have to gain.

I dont think I could afford to fix my z28 if I wrecked it.....id be walking everywhere lol, thats why the one time I though my car was getting a little swirly at the top end of the track i got on the brakes and off the gas.

That car is a mess. And, I'm sure when they start looking at it the thing is gonna be a total loss.

Parting it out, would probably net more money back then if he tried to fix and sell it.. and judging from the pictures, there isn't much left that isn't smashed.

If I went to the track tomorrow, and saw a brand new car like that in the lane next to me I think I would just wait for him to run, or just sit there at the tree for about 6 seconds or so, just so that way he could get far enough down track so I would have enough time to get out of it....

If I never run at another street night again... it will be too soon, just becuase of that. Hell I don't even really want to go to rental days that are open to the public, just because of that 3 hour wait due to an asshat that smashed his brand new GT500 at LVD like 3 years ago now.

I'd rather pay a couple hundred bucks to run with 10 cars that actually have a clue, then go take a chance with someone like that in the other lane. Stuff happens even on race days... people cross the center lane, hit each other at the end of the track going on the return road, and all that..... but being in the lane next to a situation like that, no thanks I'm going to try to aviod that one as much as possible.

I read on another site that the run was right after a Mustang spilled its guts all the way down the track. Either way that sucks.

EDIT: It wasn't another site it was here.

Did the track crew clean up after the previous car puked, or did they just send another car down the track?

Last year a car skipped off the wall twice(maybe 3xs) and he never got out of it and just kept on going.... Also saw a new 2011 GT500 make a left turn mid track into the wall..

I had a 650 hp s/c c5 spin in front of me my first run ever at the track.. He came over into my lane backwards hitting the wall in front of me...

Lucky me I couldn't get traction so when I saw him lose it I braked up and went around him ..

That does suck..bad.
The track does not fill out reports of accidents. But I know first hand how carefull insurance companies are about paying out checks for expensive cars before getting all the details, and yes, they have plenty of lawyers and have no problem hiring investigators. And then they wait and wait some more before they pay.

Which translates into... he's not getting any $ from the insurance company on this deal.

Man Ive gotten loose on shifts with good dr's and got out of it. No wonder a car with close to 500whp could lose it on street tires.

all i know is if i ever have a $100k+ car I will take it easy my first passes until i know the power of the car. and definetly not run it on street tires. yes i've made mistakes before. but i've NEVER EVER got back into a run when i've spun hard to a point where it would be unsafe. yea maybe easy for me to say because i only have a bolt on car. but i know my limitations, with that being said this bolt on 273rwhp car has gone 1.67 60fts so its not slouch.

oh btw i've never run on anything less then a 255/50/16 et street radial as well.

so talk as much crap as u want, but in my eyes that was a VERY dumb thing to do with such a expensive car. so in my eyes the driver (thank god hes ok) is somehwat of an idiot.
