if this is true and the car was bone stock there was something wrong with the car.
it was blowing black smoke real real real bad the hole way down the track. i meen bad!!! like you couldnt see the back of the car!!!!! something was screwed up if it was stock tune.

As far as I know he just got the car within the last couple of weeks. I'll have to find out what was done to the car, if anything.

Any one of us would of ran that car bone stock at the track with the stock tires!
I totally agree with Marco. Any one of us would have run that car right off the dealership showroom floor.

I have seen plenty of experienced drivers with faster cars hit the wall.

Sad thing, but does not make him an idiot.

I almost lost my Z06 years ago at LVD. The car launched hard, 1-2, 2-3 shift were perfectly fine. On the 3-4 shift it felt like there was nothing there, like I was on ice. The car went hard right and I was almost completely sideways through the beams. Luckily I saved it and the only loss that day was a pair of boxers and a little embarrassment when the safety guy at the end of the track told me "Take that ******* car home... that was too close!". That car didn't have enough power to spin the tires at that speed under normal conditions... but a little something on the track and it might as well of been ice.

I swear it's an IRS/street tire thing... for some reason that combo just seems to be very easy to lose it with at higher speeds.

I'd say, that 95% of the time I see a car get loose at the top end of any track, it's either a BIG power car( 1500 hp+), or a car with irs and street tires. Combine a decent amount of power and that irs/street tire deal, and get the dustpan out becuase sooner or later you're going to be cleaning up the track from the parts that scattered.

ya got to remember when you spin the tires at high speeds like that the slightest over correction will have dramatic results, not everyone is lucky enough or has the experience or skills to pull off the save at the high speeds....

i did it in my vet as well with drag radials 3-4 shirt. lol not to bad, but it did it. andy's lpe vett was a harry ride on the 3-4 shift. 99% of people would have lost it.
i remember getting back to him with his car and he was as white as a ghost and he said "dude, your ******* nuts!! I need a drink"

I have no clue if NED or any track needs to report this but unless the car burst into flames and burnt to the ground, they are going to ask where are all the other pieces if they question it.

I am an insurance agent and I can tell you from my exp. Calling in saying you had a accident and not having a report to back it up will not get you far and they do investigate.

Also to really answer your question. IF the owner does what you say, its a felony. So it really depends on how brave they are.
The car had On Star; so when the air bag blew, the police, EMS and fire were notified...way too much paper to cover up now.

That really blows. I'm not one to point the finger and play the blame game. But I know one thing, and it sucks being that guy.

Did you use the special clear thats required on the carbon fiber to prevent fading, I believe thats what hes referring to when he mentioned expensive paint.

Easy to unplug, I pulled my OnStar the day I brought my car home.
