Default passing CT emissions with a blown car??

How are you guys doing it?
From what I understand cats wont survive in a blown car so most people dont run them.

Do you put them on for the test then take them back off??
Will it pass with a good tune if they dont look under the car??

My car isnt blown but ill be ordering some ARH with the shells of the cats that they make. They will be sending them to me already hollow to pass the visual. But hopefully I dont get a hard time for having LTS or the cats not being in stock location.
Its gonna be the same for a blown car unless a sniffer is envolved.

In CT you need to have so many ready status on the monitors and that means driving the car so many miles or drive cycles. Cannot be any codes or SES lights. MOST place inforce the Visual, I know some that don't.

NOT SURE on cars with Speed Density Tunes passing in CT, most run into that issue in one form or another. Maybe a Sponsor that tunes can chime in on this....

Back about 4-5 years ago, we had a local kid bought a built '98 Trans Am with a Rapid Motorsports 383, TH400 and basically all out drag car and he passed as the car still sported the MAF and no SES (most of the PCM had stuff turned off or tuned out). Visual was ignored by the tester as he was a fellow LS1tech member and worked for a dealership at the time.

It's the visual and readiness test. Just because it has no lights doesn't mean it will pass.

SD passes no problem tuned in right on the codes.

Thats the test's it goes through for 02's,02 heaters,EVAP,air and some other things. It's ussually on the print out. We can do the test with EFI live to see if they are complete. Don't know if HPT does it.

If you can only go to places that always do a visual test, then you might have to have a spare set of midpipes just for inspection. Or a set of catted pipes but with the cats hollowed out so that they appear as normal cats from the outside.

But even then, most people will be able to smell the lack of cats, and you might not pass regardless of you having cat shells or you passing all the readiness tests.

If the places are that strict in CT, just grab another set of midpipes and be done with it.

i passed emissions with flying colors in ct.
no cats, smells like a big cammed car.
loud as hell at idle.

its really up to who you take the car too.
if they get nosey and start poking around then yes you will fail.

number 1 thing are the rediness tests.
i have no emissions equipment setup on my vehicle.
get them to complete, have no cel light so once they hook up and scan it , it all completes and they send you on your way!.

I passed with both my big camd, no cat pollution blowing 4th gens for a few years now. I know a bunch of shops in ct that dont do visual you just have to find the right shop with some car guys.

On both my cars i have no air pump, no egr, no secondary 02s, no cats, and big cams, and they pass with flying colors. As long as that is all tuned out and your monitors are set youll go right though. Like said above Hpt and efi live its a cinch

Used search and Bumping this up instead of a new thread. Going to go through emissions this week. What codes do I need to turn off or switch in HPTuners to pass? All emissions stuff is removed lol

its a 2002 Camaro with a turbo setup. I can post the tune if you guys need to see that as well.

Just make sure you don't have any codes and all readiness monitors are good. Other than that, you can either get a fake cat and put it in the mid pipe or find a shop who doesn't look. If you're in the southwest part of the state I can give you a place to go.
