Back in the day I was the parts and service manager at a Corvette specialty shop. We had a car show event.
The owner of the shop picked a heavily modified "street/strip" 62 Corvette as "Event holder's best of show". You should have seen the line of Corvette elitists lined up to tell her how much they disapproved of her choice.
All I could hear was words like "ruined" "destroyed" and "butchered" when referring to the prize winner.
I remember thinking what a bunch of little bitch *** dweebs.

I've owned 8 different Corvettes myself from heavily modified to NCRS top flight cars and still currently own my last (1970 454) of them which I've owned since 2000. When I'm through with racing I'll eventually finish the body off restoration.
Anyways......
Back in 1990 during the debut of the ZR1, I decided to go to my 1st Corvette show with my Pro Street car that I built a few years earlier. I experienced the same type of behavier in '90 that you did. I was parked next to a Stock Mid Year and he approached the people running the event and refused to be parked next to a "Butchered Modified Piece of Crap." There were others that felt the same as he. I thought it was amusing that my car angered them so much.
Here's an engine picture of my Butchered piece of crap they hated so much.

When it comes to CF I agree with almost all of the above LOL though I do still like it over there and have certainly spent A LOT of time on that site in my nearly 11 years (nearly 21k posts ) of being a member there.

Are people that way at Carlisle too? I've thought about going there to check it out, just got an 03z, its my first corvette and first LS vehicle for that matter. I dont want to try and win any awards or anything, just sounds like a fun event. I doubt I would ever go to any other corvette only car shows like that because of people like you describe. I know how crazy some older corvette purists can get.

He made the list...i feel he can do with it what he wants. Just got done reading all of that. I feel the car's time should be posted no matter who is driving it just to see what it's capable of. Obviously Ranger's point of the list is to focus on the driver. I wouldn't even want a time posted if my car was driven someone else unless a medical condition stopped me at the time. Not really any pride in that. Some take fast list serious...the people that can drive a car. I did when i was into it with my C5Z. It's a lot of fun chasing those tenths to move up the list.
I could go both ways with it but regardless it's not our decision.

You should see all the guys complaining about all of the sponsor posts in the C5 Z06 section on CF, its pretty funny. Of course any body that posts a complaint about the vendors gets their post locked pretty quickly. At least they are not deleting them though, maybe they want their advertisers to slow down with all their posts. It is way out of hand, there are 4x as many vendor posts then member posts. I like that section but it looks more like a C5 parts for sale section than technical info. I'd say something but my luck I'd probably be banned for complaining about their sponsors.

^^^ yea, the vendors were getting outta hand in the Forced Induction section and we kept bitching, they cut the post WAY back. we would just make smart *** comments like "will those new swede seats help my belt slip issue?"

LOL, thats funny. I figured if they were leaving the complaint posts up that they must be trying to tell their sponsors to cool it. Hopefully it will have the same effect as it did in other sections. Nice that they dont let the vendors post like that here, I was really surprised when I first started hanging out over there how out of hand it was.
