Default Driving/Crusing Roads in MD/Northern VA

Back in Daytona Beach, a few friends would get together and go on a cruise around Lake George. There where some pretty cool scenery/spots out there.

We would go on SR17 to SR100 to SR19 to SR40 which would lead us back to Daytona Beach. There where twists and hills. No cops. Awesome scenery. Cool places for photos. It was just a nice way to spend a few hours on a mini roadtrip.

Is there anything like this in this area?
A few pictures so you guys can see what im talking about.

My guess would be Embry Riddle?

And there are plenty of nice roads in and around the DMV.. a lot have cops now though.

All depends what your looking for.

Skyline is a nice scenic drive (take 66 out to Front Royal). The only negative about it is that there are a lot of non-car people out enjoying it as well. Don't expect to have high-speed thrills the entire time, but do expect some nice views.

Skyline is congested and too many park rangers. Go out Rt50 to Rt15, take lime kiln road to snickersville turnpike, rt7 to blueridge mountain road, rt 50 to mt carmel road to ebenezer road and then back. See how you like that. There are some more routes further out but thats good for a fun fast drive.

211 is nice...for bikes at least you won't be able to do much passing with cars. Skyline drive is a 35mph zone with lots of park rangers i wouldn't suggest pushing the speed limit there. I was just out on 211 saturday with a couple bikes. I used to go with the camaro a lot. Depending on the time of day you may be able to get some good runs up and down the mountain. Can also hit the 2nd mountain past luray. Further west you go the more fun it gets. WVA has some great roads. I hit a lot of local short sprints in prince william county. too far from silver spring though.

I'm also from leesburg va. There's really not many cool roads around here that I have found. Most have tons of traffic. Lime kiln is the only nice 1... Sometimes I go out driving by my self looking for nice roads but I never find any... I'm down to cruise when ever. If your from nova... You should join http://www.novastreetscene.com/ when ever a car meet happens or cruise its usually on here. Godspeed where are you from in nova or MD. I'm on mobile so I can't see sigs or anything.

lime kiln is not but my sister was passanger in a car that rolled twice and took out a power line about 10 feet up the pole... i'd be careful on that road at night... thankfully they both walked away from the wreck... the car was a brand new mazda 6 with less than 200 miles on it.

Plenty of other roads around besides lime kiln but thats one of the closest. Lots of clubs organize cruises in this area so its not hard to get out and about if you want to.

Sorry about the wreck but was most likely driver error in a new car... we've gone though that route I posted numerous times at speed with no wrecks. Need to know your car and drive for conditions.
