my dad and i run a ford powerstroke diesel specialty shop. they are fun to own but any 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck is not a cheap vehicle. the 6.0s have their problems, alot of them are avoidable, they are a very misunderstood engine. i own a 2006 6.0L personally, i have headstuds, blocked egr cooler, a coolant filter kit, 2003 model year turbocharger, mbrp turbo back and innovative diesel extreme tuning.

I know people bash the 6.0L, but if they are well taken care of, and aren't left idling, they don't have many problems. They are also cheaper because people are afraid of them. I have over 150k miles on mine and I've only replaced the EGR twice and trans temp sensor, and the only mods I have are exhaust and cooler. Plus I have the Edge computer mounted to my dash so I can monitor the trans and coolant temps. Its awesome in the snow too!

Thats utter nonsense. Its a poorly designed POS. The most recalls of any diesel light duty truck. Turbo sucked,EGR **** poor design blah blah. There is a reason Ford is building their own diesels now and suing Navistar

I worked at a Ford dealership and we had a #1 rated diesel dept so we saw lots of 6.0's. As a matter of fact the only thing I really saw back there was 6.0 Diesels. Now if you are looking at newer diesels the 6.4 twin turbo is nice and has fantastic pickup for a diesel. However...when that little exhaust cleaner turns on you lose alot of power. Granted that thing isn't running all the time but the 6.4 seemed to be a much better performing truck vs the 6.0.
