Hey guys. There's a good chance I'll be moving out to Massachusetts this summer and just wondering how the car scene is out there around the Boston area. I've been out there a couple times already but it was over the winter months and didn't see much out on the road. I know emissions really limits you guys with what you've got done to the cars and the closest track is up in New Hampshire, but is there anything that goes on in the area? Plus, what are the emissions like and how strict is the testing? Are the cops bad about pulling cars like mine over? What I'll probably just end up doing is keeping the tags in Minnesota. Just looking for some info from you guys. Thanks.

Closest track is just under an hour away from Boston in NH.
There are no emissions at all that limit us.
Inspection is purely OBDII plug-in and very few even do visual checks for cats.
If you drive like a jackass, then you'll get as much grief from cops as in any other state. But if you mostly drive normally on the streets you shouldn't have much problem. My car used to be loud and smelly once too and never had any problems. The only time a cop has said anything about my exhaust was when I got pulled over for cutting him off (LOL) and he mentioned that my exhaust was on the loud side...but didn't give me a ticket for it and it wasn't like that was the main reason for the stop.

Supposedly the software inspection stations are now running is can detect "chip" tunes that monkey with emissions stuff but not the more sophisticated stuff.
I heard about that as well. I just texted a buddy that does stickers to see if he has had any trouble with tuned vehicles.
EDIT: Just heard back from him, apparently it's true. He had to fail his own car.

I had my tuned car pass inspection just fine...
