Supposedly they can "see" if the pcm has been monkeyed with to ignore a no-cat situation; we'll see, since I have no rear O2s and no cats...

This has been discussed before and debunked. Unless an inspection station has a tech2 or hptuners or efilive to specifically scan our cars and check the tune, they are not going to be able to tell squat.

I believe he failed because the rear o2's were not communicating or something like that. It is an 03 Cobra, according to the other threads on this subject the Fords are having a problem with this.

I'll see if I can find out more info from him and let you know.....

Yeah see, that's nothing new...if something isn't communicating then they will fail for that test. The right tune will fix that right up and the station will never know it was tuned out.

So this is nothing new regarding the inspection stations being able to tell that we have a tune, this is what it's been like for years. They check OBDII codes and readiness statuses. But they can't tell if those statuses are normal or have been altered by a custom tune.

been there done that......disabling the mil enabler parameter in efi live will solve it.....just leave them plugged in......when it goes to test them they will respond but in the adjust tables they are zeroed out so their feedback will not affect anything......

Shouldn't be a guess, anyone local to you with a copy of HPTuners or EFILive can tell you if you will pass or not.

I'm glad I don't have to deal with that stuff with my 95. MA inspections are tough enough.

I would say they're quite the opposite.

My car has been passing with LTs for a few years now. Just last week I tuned my buddies cammed/catless car to pass inspection with flying colors.

If that's not lenient then idk what is LOL.

Back when I lived in NJ, such a car wouldn't even make it to the inspector...they would just tell you to take a hike as you pulled into the station.

Man that's harsh huh. I guess it depends on where you go to get inspected. Around my area they kick you out for just about anything.

So if you're car is tuned correctly, running no cats shouldn't be an issue?

Nope, not unless they actually look under the car.

But as far as the computer is concerned everything will be just fine.

yes and Depends how the cat-check sensors are working. If they hooked up with Sims and the SES isn't disabled, it should show up fine on an OBD check. My cammed ORY car passes fine (2x so far.) But I've been wanting to put the cats back on anyway. Just in case DOT/Staties decide to give me the white glove inspection. A quiet exhaust will typically keep them off your back also.
