Option 1 is what i would do. I love having no car payments and can mod and or fix things without waiting for ever to save up to do so. Also the swap to a manual is not to bad if you have people with the knowledge and know how. Also u might want to think about putting a post out there to see if anybody wants to do a swap with you

Put a big stall in the TA and some sticky tires. Then you will hate it less. 
Pick up the Legacy to commute with.
Although if i did a M6 swap I'd just bring my car to Slowhawk's, and toss him some money to figure it all out. I have thought about that route myself, but I've had my car a long time and would love to spark new interest into it. Although its like they always say the "grass is greener".
