Very nice. All we use at the dealership I work at is the Dewalt. I got one for myself as well.

I like it a lot, about as heavy as my flex da, and very quiet. I got some hands on time with an older Milwaukee rotary and I find this a lot easier to wield.

Should help us a lot time wise on aggressive corrections with the wool pads.

Gonna try one of those newer microfiber pads on the da at some point to compare. I like having a few tools at your disposal for heavy work.

Can't beat a rotary for quick heavy cutting action. I personally like the Makita 9227c due to the slow start feature. Helps against slinging compound everywhere.

Both are awesome, that was my 2nd choice

Yeah I find with the wool pads and especially meguires compound (runnier than menzerna) it wants to sling a lot. I could run right over a bead of product with a DA wide open and not sling anything but I'm gonna have to get the technique down on this guy. At minimum, control where it might sling. (I peppered my buddies golf bag up pretty good haha)

Yup. Been there before. I learned with a rotary before the DA's became poplular. Switching to a DA for me was a learning curve. I rarely use my Makita anymore but when done properly you can get great results and quick too. I also like the M105/205 system with the DA or rotary.

As far as messing up paint. Yes you can but I think the rotary has gotten a bad rap over the years. If you take your time, do a little research, and keep the pad moving and tape off anything you are affraid to mess up then you really dont have much to worry about. As long as you dont expect to use a wool pad with cutting compound and have the paint be swirl free then your good. Thats what makes the rotary/DA combo work so well. You can cut and get the paint looking good with the rotary and then finish it down and bring out the final finish with the DA.

Have fun and post some pics when you use it.

Its really not too bad, much different than the PC, you just got to keep the machine moving a lot faster. If you want something with some muscle and don't want to jump to a rotary then the Flex XC 3401 VRG has my vote. Its kinda pricey, but its my favorite tool, if i could only have one, that would be it. Way more powerfull than a PC and much safer than a rotary. It does major work too, with the right pad it will do like 90% of what a rotary can do. With the forced rotation it will not slow down either, love it. I can do aggressive correction twice as fast compared to the PC, and the rotary is even faster.

You can burn paint with a flex but you really gotta try.
I will probably still use the flex most of the time.

Exactly

My preference is to do 2 finishing passes with a DA after an aggressive pass. I use Menzerna a lot, but like the 105 for aggressive cuts as its non-deminishing.
I'll follow up with a med cut foam pad and menzerna PF2500 (aka 203), then to a light or no cut (depending on paint) and menzerna SF4000 (aka 106fa)

Yeah I haven't posted any writeups lately, I'm past due. I got a car that is full of surprises I gotta finish up currently, and I'll post that.

Yeah I havent been able to try any menzerna products yet. After some agressive cutting with the rotary and M105 I will step it down to the DA and a orange LC pad with the M105 then on to the white LC pad with the M205 followed by a wax/sealant of choice. 95% this is my go to system and seems to work very well. I will change it up every now and then. Most of the time I dont need the rotary.
