Canadian near NY state (Syracuse) looking for place to do H/C
I live 5mins from the I-81 border and am looking for want to call upon a shop to consult some speed parts. I have heard of Redline? in Albany (4hrs from me) but Not too sure about shops in my home province of Ontario (Toronto is 2.5hrs from me) but I know parts and labor are cheaper shopping in USA (most parts, LOL)
Anyway, I would like to keep the car as unmolested as possible, or able to revert back to orig as easily as possible, since it is a Hawk and I plan on keeping her. I have near 94K MILES on her, yes, I bought her in PA in 2007.
I want a cam, love the sound and know the power unlocked on an LS1, and convinced my best choice is the torquer V2 after talking with Texas Speed quite some time ago, but as for my intent with the car, it seems best cam route (keep great drivability, have more torque in usable power range under the stock rev limiter, mannered that my wife can drive her) I also realize with 94k miles, that the heads will need to come off since the lifter trays will be stretched out, thus making them useless and need replacement. I figure, if the heads need to come off, why not replace them to make the most of the cam? Thus doing all this requires additional mods to support the H/C and tune as well.
In summery, Im looking for which place to consult that has the knowledge and reputation to workon the LS1, even tho its an old motor now, some people/places lack the knowledge and touch they need. Preferreably, this shop can also tune the work they do, instead of shopping it out a second time. I don't have a said budget, thus why I want to consult to see where we end up. Car is pretty much stock now, except for LM2, SLP lid/85mm mass air meter, and a diablosport handheld tune.
Car is an 01 M6 Hawk
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
