The traction was always worse than Atco, but it was so close. Not sure how I feel about this.

Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, the Napp family owned and operated business
announced today a reorganization of the company’s business operations. To achieve this
goal, Raceway Park will no longer conduct quarter mile or eighth mile drag racing events
effective immediately.

This is terrible news, just found out last night when my buddy told me everyone got let go. I didn’t believe it then the bangshift post on Facebook blew up and the link locked out. Today the news letter was released.

Bad news, but im sure the owners are getting very tired of battling with the town and nieghbors about noise for years. it wears on you.
Also i heard that IAA-COPART is leasing some of the land for 15 years for 75 million.
The owners aren't getting any younger and prob want to enjoy retirement a bit. We are all lucky they didn't sell the entire plot to devolopers years ago for tons of $$$

Well that sucks. And it's gonna make other tracks more crowded I'd imagine. At least they are still doing other events. I went there for the first time as a little kid in the mid 80's to watch drag racing. And cried because of the noise lol. Then went back several times in my 20's. I will never forget the commercials that were on the radio for years. "Oh hhohohohoho...raceway park!" Bought a nitrous kit there from the NOS truck at a drag race/show event probably 15 years ago. It's sad but in all honesty it's not a huge loss for me because it's a **** drive, long and trafficy, haven't been there in years. The place was always packed though, I would have thought that it would survive forever.

I wonder what the NHRA will do about this year's Summer Nationals?
My dad and I have gone there for years, a few Father's day trips (I once got him to skip a fishing trip to go because "you can fish anytime, Top Fuel comes once a year!"). I have stuff signed by Don Garlits, Don Prudhomme, Bruce Larson, Warren Johnson, Kenny Bernstein, and John Force (and quite a few others) all from Raceway Park. I never thought they would close. I still have a few "E-Town" shirts to rock though.
A little tribute to the Raceway Park laugh:
