Well the peckerheads of IHRA really did it this time......If you've got a T-Top car that goes faster than 13.50, it's got to have a rollbar for the '05 season, just as the convertibles. What fools. Lebanon Valley Dragway, with the new 11.49 or faster rule for '05, just tripled their business for '05 season. Will bet IHRA removes this rule before new season starts....Post up your thoughts, boys and girls....WJ

Yes they can! I've thought I read there was a new class allowing non-modifed, from factory cars, have their own class and can bypass this ...as long as your stock...

and verts do not neet roll bar till 13.49 or quicker vs the old 13.99 . IAll I know is that there have been several changes to the rules to get more people off the street racing scene and go to the track.. trying to get more people to the track is the idea behind all the changes for next season (as for NHRA vs IHRA tracks these apply to I don't have a clue)

If I can find a link to the text, I will post it

That IHRA rule is nuts! but if it's true about un-modded t-top what does that include, everyone mod it to some extent. Is it unmodded motor ummodded suspension? Oh well maybe I should just leave my car the way it is and concentrate on finishing my 68 Firebird. I'll put a roll-cage in that, that will need it.

as for getting people off the streets? seems to me a cage rule on ttop cars which is basically just fbodys now except for some old fox bodys and g-bodys
that people will say f the track and ther cage rule and put more on the street

Adjustment to E.T. requirements
In a move designed to encourage more street vehicles to compete on the quarter-mile, NHRA has revised its requirements for roll bars, SFI Spec clutches, driveshaft loops, driver restraints, and certain protective clothing.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2005, a roll bar and an SFI 16.1 driver-restraint system will be mandatory on any vehicle running 11.49 or quicker and for convertibles running 13.49 or quicker. An SFI 3.2A/1 jacket will be mandatory for all drivers in vehicles running between 10.00 to 11.49 seconds. On any car running 11.49 or quicker, a flywheel and clutch meeting SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2 and a flywheel shield meeting SFI Spec 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, or 9.1 will be mandatory. A driveshaft loop will be required on all cars running 13.99 or quicker and utilizing slicks, except vehicles equipped with street tires running 11.49 or slower.
here you go

I just skimmed throught it. Did anyone else notice this:
(Its in the "Stock" section)
Add in the class section.

D… 11.00 to 11.99
H … 15.00 to 15.99

K…. 20.00 to 21.99
L… 22.00 to 23.99
M… 23.00 or more

Class L is restricted to 4 or 6 cylinder entries only. Class M is limited to 4 cylinder entries.
20+ seconds in the 1/4.....hahahahha.
23+ seconds... Is that a loaded 4cylinder minivan?

Wouldn't all the removeable tops vets be lumped into this category too? That's the thought I've seen being mentioned on other boards...that the rule is limiting f-body's..vette's..grand national's...and a small handful of mustangs.
