NED 2005 rule change
While it may not affect some, for '05, well read below:
What it means to me is I cannot race at NED anymore unless I put a 6 pt cage in my daily driver, or stay above 13.5, NOT.

New England Dragway will be complying with the IHRA regulations on this matter.
Yes, T-Tops running faster than 13.5 will need to have a minimum of a 6-point roll bar installed. Any entry that exceeds 135 mph must have a roll cage.
Thanks for your interest in NED.

Hi, on the IHRA website it shows this rule change for 2005:
11.50 to 13.49 section
Rollbar / Rollcage: A minimum of a 6 point roll bar is mandatory all
convertibles and T *Top entries running 11.00 to 13.49 1Ž4 mile and 8.25
or quicker 1/8 mile. A roll cage is mandatory on any entry that exceeds
135 mph.
On your site it still shows this:
Elapsed Time (ET) of 11.50 - 13.49
Roll Bar or Roll Cage for convertibles - recommended for all others.
Check current IHRA Rule Book for additional requirements and
specifications.
My question is on cars like mine, a daily driven street car, who run low
13's & have T-tops, do people like me now have to install a cage to run
on street nights, Saturdays & Sundays or is just for IHRA sanctioned events?
If so, & that's the above news/rumor is the latest "buzz" on the local
message boards, that allot of people are going to leave NED & migrate to
LVD in NY.
Thanks,

blame the IHRA's insurance comapny and the 22 sec ricers crashing into the walls.
Anyone want to build a hotel and rake in some $$$ at LVD ?
Time for me to give up my fledgling drag racing hobby and pick up road racing

By the time the '05 season is ready to start, I believe IHRA and NED will have seen the light and the roll cage rule will coincide with the 11.49 NHRA rule. "When money talks, the roll cage walks." You'd think these 2 sponsoring organizations could at least agree on a major issue such as this. It's just another giant pissing contest. WJ
