Default Porting my own heads

I was wondering if there were any write ups, or if anyone in here has done it. Since the car is going to be sitting for a few more months maybe Ill get out and do something with it.

Also what tools ill need...ect.

I wouldn't unless you buy some spare heads or something. there is a such thing as over porting and such.

which would be a better head, the 5.3 truck heads or 241 LS1 heads?

depends on what your plan is. Personally I would take the 241 head port it and have it decked to raise the compression. but the 5.3 is suppose to raise the compression.

yea im looking to raise compression and just gain a few extra ponies through free mods and such...im not looking for anything near aftermarket head gains.

Your better off just smoothing the ports out,beburring/polishing.I've seen a set of home ported heads actually lose 30hp before.

didnt you do your own heads before....long time ago?

btw thats all I planned on doing....and would port matching the intake be worthwhile?
