Glad to hear that only the car "died" and that you are okay! I lost an uncle when I was a little kid to an accident where he fell asleep at the wheel. I also have a friend who was a passenger in an accident a couple years ago; his mother fell asleep at the wheel on the interstate and hit one of those stone walls - she died on impact. My friend was in the back seat sleeping, and got a broken collar bone, broken rib, punctured lung, fractured and dislocated hip, dislocated ankle, and severe concussion.

Accidents SUCK - DON'T SLEEP AND DRIVE! Plenty of times when I have been on a road trip where I've just pulled over an taken an hour nap, or just got a hotel room until morning. The money for a room is a small price to pay when compared to your life, or even to the value of your ride.

You should find out what the insurance company wants for you to "buy back" the car. Sometimes it's only a few hundred dollars - you might be able to part out what ever is salvageable (like the engine and tranny) for well more than what the insurance people want for it! Just a thought.

Anyway, sorry to hear about the car - but again, glad you are well.

Well, I told the insurance that I didn't want the car at all. So it is entirely stripped now and will be back to stock by the end of the week . .The transmission was just inherited by My84Z since his is missing gear teeth all over the place...
Took it out and put it back in Alone then John calls and asks hey is the tranny in yet? Yeah for about an hour now . . . Its all good . .Thats what friends are for!

Thanks for your concerns everyone. BTW a new job is in the works since the last machine shop closed two weeks before Xmas, so it appears an '04 GTO with an STS kit is soon coming. . . I would have to say a few months though!
