Question for you guys.
I want to put 3.73's in, would it be worth it using the stock rear or should I just wait for when I replace the whole thing probably with a 12 bolt? My goals for the car are heads/cam maybe with a small shot.

Lots of guys will disagree, but I say put the 3.73's in the 10 bolt if your rear doesn't have a lot of mileage and a ton of passes. Step up and buy GENUINE GM gears from a GM parts supplier and have a reputable gear installer put them in along w/a solid crush collar. You have a Torsen? T/A cover and studbolt kit? Moser HD C-clip axles are considerably stronger than the stockers....3 channel rear, or a TCS car? Install w/GM 3.73's and solid collar (parts and labor) shouldn't be more than 600-650 dollars. You know what a 12 bolt costs....even if you do the install yourself...and the Moser 12 bolts aren't much better than the stock 10 bolts... If you had a M6, I'd say step up for a 12 bolt, or 9" soon as you can, but the A4's will live w/10 bolts if you keep them inspected and freshen them up every season.... WJ

WJ didn't you say I would be fine with my stock rear and 4/10's?

So what is It?

Well I would definately change the cover and studs. It is a TCS car, I'm not sure if its a Torsen. Why are GM gears the best to go with (noise)? I know a 12 bolt would cost about 2.5k for parts/labor, but I would rather put the money into that if I know my stocker is gonna crap out anytime soon.

That's what I told you. I said I ran over 65 1/4 mile passes w/my '99 car running 12.6's w/stock 10 bolt, a T/A cover and studbolt kit w/M&H d.o.t. Super Stock tires, leaving at 4,000 rpm and lower, without ever breaking a thing. So, that's what it is. Period. Some 10 bolts break---some don't. Sure, You go out there w/some sticky tires and start sidestepping the clutch at 4500 rpms and up and positively it will break....I can't give you a written guarantee that you won't break it, Ace.....if that's what you're looking for..... I thought it was an auto, My bad, but yes the red one. I talked to him about it on a street night @ NED. Thought it was an auto. 4.10's M6 makes more sense than A4.

Think he just moved down south to either Carolina North or South....Tomorrow noon I fly outa Greene to NC for 5 days to visit friends. Gonna try to go to a strip Sat., or Sun. if weather permits....Charlotte area. Will check out the local LS1 F-body talent down there for us all...Even if it only hits 50 degrees down there, I will be happy! Just getting away from this long winter for a little while will be cool....Talk to you all soon... WJ

Yeah, just watching at the track is nothing like pulling your car into the staging beams....but I need to get away from winter--even for a short time. WJ

The Vig converter, the 8.5" ET Drags, and Slowhawk's magic gave me all the low 12.3 timeslips and the respectable 60' times...My 109+ mph doesn't reallly impress me, though. Best wishes. WJ.
glad I kept telling you to get a convertor.. And you couldn't believ the difference at first remember.. haha
