Went to New England Dyno and Tuning yesterday
Went down yesterday and visited with Dyno Dean and John as they had a "motley mix" dyno day.
I say that as there was a wide range of vehicles seeing what they were (or in some cases "were not") made of
There was a S-10 truck w/ 4.3 Vortech that put down 162 at the wheels, an early 90's Mustang LX 5.0 that churned out 199.78....I guess we could be kind and "Technically" round up to 200 for him, hell it is american muscle...errr at least American
Some young dude threw is Volvo on and it chugged along to a high 90 RWHP run, that made me feel pretty good about "The Cav" as it made 114 FWHP on these very rollers a couple years ago.
You guys remember the Fiero???? Well there was on there with a custom front end, exposed headlights (under clear headlight covers) and it had a hole in the middle of the trunk/hood (not sure what to call it but the part in front of the windshield that had a sort of Ford GT40 indent for airlfow to the radiator. It made 130ish RWHP
A Porshe 944 went on the rollers and made 205 ish RWHP, looked like hell, smashed up, cracked windshield but screw that he knew where to spend his money, hell with the looks, he was going to get some quality dyno time and the only place to do that is at New England Dyno and Tuning.
As most of you guys know that is a place I go to do my dynoing and I highly recommend going down there to get a pre season read on your ride as the track will be opening in 32 days
Keeping with that theme I took my buddies 98 Z/28 LS-1 down to throw it on the rollers for him as we wanted to get a baseline on it before I start talking him into making some mods.
I made four pulls and hooked up the A/F meter to see what was going on and the A/F ratio was good 13's.
I was pleased with the results, it made 290.74 RWHP and 309.62 RWTQ.
It is a stock LS-1 w/ K&N filter (stock lid) and Flowmaster cat back. I can already hear Brad in his little girly voice (it's a little weak for an LS-1)
And that is why a trip to NEDT is the great thing to do, you can tell both cars are making equal power (my LS-1 Z/28 made 287 / 306) but mine goes better and what's the difference.....it's the Vigilante which will be the first thing I talk him into. My buddies Z feels much slower but if they are making basically the same power then it's time to upgrade the converter. On the street you can only tell it's slower but at the dyno you can tell it's not the motor but other drivetrain issues that make it slower.
Marc
P.S. The "Tomato" is up and running again and will be ready for track duty on 4/2. Will probably race either my LS-1 or my buddy Mark's LS-1 on opening day.

I'm still in the mid 13's, at least you broke into the 12's!

Took "The Tomato" out for a rip around the block today
Didn't have a nose on it but screw it, went for a quick rip around the block.
Didn't really wail on it (only saw about 5 lbs of boost), just drove it to make sure eveything still works as I've relocated some stuff and cut and spliced alot of stuff.

John (can't recall his last name) is buying the dyno from Dean.
I met him over the weekend, Deano did good by us as he sold it to a decent guy who's into the hobby as well
