die unless everyone that this involves, or effects, vendors, counsumers, hobbyists, speaks up!

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (UPDATE)

Massachusetts Bill to Ban the Sale/Installation of Aftermarket Exhaust Systems Resurfaces with New Bill Number

After being stalled in 2004, a bill (H.B. 2011) to ban the sale or installation of “an exhaust system which has been modified in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the exhaust” has been reintroduced in the Massachusetts State Legislature - this time with a twist. It has been revised from last year’s version to exclude limited-use “antique motor cars.” This amendment represents a clear attempt by the bill’s sponsor to divide the automobile hobby in an effort to gain cleaner sailing for this restrictive and damaging piece of legislation. H.B. 2011 has been referred for consideration to the Joint Transportation Committee.

We Urge You to Call or E-Mail Members of the Transportation Committee Immediately to Oppose H.B. 2011

· H.B. 2011 ignores the fact that aftermarket exhaust systems are designed to make vehicles run more efficiently without increasing emissions.

· H.B. 2011 does not supply law enforcement with a clear standard to enforce, allowing them to make subjective judgments on whether or not a modified exhaust system is in violation.

· H.B. 2011 fails to recognize that aftermarket exhaust systems offer increased performance, which can make a vehicle safer by improving its ability to merge, pass, travel uphill, etc.

· H.B. 2011 would make it difficult for hobbyists to replace factory exhaust systems with more durable, better performing options.

· H.B. 2011 would only exclude “antique motor cars” defined as those vehicles over 25-years old which are used exclusively for exhibitions, club activities, parades, etc.

Honestly, this is one of the most ridiculous things i have ever seen. i really hope it doesnt get approved becuase if it does then other states will start to jump on the bandwagon

I am on the SEMA and SAN mailing list!

They are the ones that send me this info! They are the watchdogs!

U as the consumer and the effected party need to step up and be heard.

They supply the contact list also.

Why don't the politicians sponsor a bill to prohibit foreigners from working at Dunkin' Donuts and Cumberland Farms and Seven-11's? I'm sick of dealing with people who can't speak the English language worth a rat's *** and have an attitude besides...Throw all these morons out of our country that don't belong here and start taking care of our own...
