Default problem need help?

well when i left my friends house tonight i noticed that my low oil light was on. and i have been checking my oil periodically cause i am aware of the fact that ls1's burn oil and ive kept up with it lately. but i hadnt check it in a few weeks and i had almost no oil in my engine but the strange thing is my oil pressure gauge read normal. so i didnt notice a change in the car. so is my gauge not broken or am i just thinkin that it reads something diff than it should. well i hope i didnt hurt anythin in my motor or soemthing else. any advie would be great thanx

If your vehicle uses that much oil, you should check the oil level daily. Change the oil and filter every 3k miles. Next time you might not be so lucky.... WJ

IF theres no oil on the dipstick its 1-1.5 quarts low. Enough to have pressure but not enough to kill the engine or anything, that's why the gauge read normal, theres still 4+quarts in there.

Sorry, that doesn't make any sense at all...If there's no oil on the dipstick, why couldn't it be 3 qts. low? Or 3&1/2 qts. low? Or 2 qts. low? Just how do you come up with that answer? WJ

I'm saying if it's just off the dipstick barely (yes I am aware that you can't tell until you drain the oil how low it is), you have a valid point and I should have stated mine more clearly.
