Notes from the Pike last night...
I'll let you know, still not sure what's going on this weekend (well, post-thursday anyhow).
Thanks again, Scotty
While I've meet a few of the Mopar guys and found them to be good guys, I totally disagree with the way they've become the BK car show dictators. I think it's a great thing that BK does for the car guys and BK no doubt benefits from it... I know I always make a point to purchase something from them (or anyone else) if I hang out there.
The problem I have with the guys that "run the show" is the way they treat everyone not driving a Mopar like a 3rd rate citizen. Go to this 'show' and a high % of the cars are Mopar, what isn't Mopar is parked out back next to the BK dumpsters while ALL the Mopars park in the front (some nice, some are real POS). THIS is way so many people have animosity towards these guys! The reason so many of the cars are Mopar at this thing is because these guys ONLY cater to Mopar owners and everyone else has gotten sick of the poor treatment so fewer and fewer people are going there!
These guys don't realize that they are slowly killing off the muscle car numbers up there... they only want domestics (which I'm all about), but then they've created a hierarchy within the domestics by throwing what they feel are the "blacks" (GM, Ford, AMC...) at the back of the school bus. I'm going to guess (and I maybe wrong) that you might not be old enough to remember what the Pike was like 15 years ago. We used to go there and hangout, race, BS... and everyone was pretty cool with it (including the cops if it was kept mild). I could drive my Mustang 5.0L or my old '68 Camaro up there during the 80's and feel right at home... anywhere. Lots of really sweet muscle cars, rods, and new muscle (for the time). Then over the years, imports started to slowly take over. As such, the "V8 crowd" and the imports separated. More recently these self-appointed BK show dictators have continued to discourage anything other than Mopar owners to participate in the activities. Most people I talk to won't go up to the Pike anymore because of the police, ricers and the Mopar ****'s. Please don't get me wrong, I love a lot of the old Mopars and I like many of the owners... but seeing these guys slowly stifle what remains of the muscle car crowd so they can selfishly show only Mopars is counter productive IMHO.
As far as hanging out with the ricers, while I can say that was the first time doing so, I did meet some cool car people... a lot of idiots, but there were some cool kids in the bunch. What surprised me was they were cool with having the Z06 in the parking lot with all the rice... more so than the BK Mopar ****'s, which is VERY sad!
BTW, I'm not into running anyone for money. I think it's cool you know someone with a faster car than mine (God knows there are a LOT of them out there) and I'd be happy to run them for fun. I never said I have a super fast car and KNOW it wouldn't take much to beat it, but I do enjoy running for ***** and giggles... win or lose is all fun in my book.

Hope to see you and others up there this summer.
Next good Saturday ( weather wise ) that I'm free, I'd be more then happy to participate in a BK takeover for a night... might get the point across.

I need to know what to look for and how often are you out there?
