Notes from the Pike last night...
Following weekend, depending on the weather, I may try to go with eastside to the drags on saturday.. have to see if I can squeeze in someone's back seat for the trip.. if hte weather's bad... then I'm off doing other things.... either way, I won't be around next weekend I'm pretty sure.
Don't lose the dream in memories of the past, create a new one!! Go reclaim the damn Pike! In just the one night I got to spend on it, I had a good time and met some really awesome people... Reclaim it!!!

You know that thought that you get every now and then, but think to yourself "I'd better not say that, or I'll get in trouble"... well, I'm that guy that will say it, say it loud, and say it twice... because I just don't care, and it's more fun that way....
Too bad there's not more cool ls1 people to hang with... import guys.. well< i can't reisist the maxwell coffee can comments, that usually sends them all into a tyrant, and the ford guys... usually as soon as I get going with the " at least they circled the problem" and the " overhead cams are for ricers " comments.. they don't wanna play nice anymore either......
Damn guys, can't ya take a slap in the face?!?
ya jay i think we know that you dont keep your mouth shut, but its always entertaining to see what you will say next. i think the more f-bodies and other GM cars we can get down there at least we can have our own fun... All that nonsense aside... the event tomorrow at LVD should be fun.. I dodn't get a chance to do anything to my car other then clean it and swap the other rims and tires back on, so I don't think I'm gonna race it.. need to change something in order to make it worth running... no reason to beat it senseless if there's nothing to be learned, so I'll be entering it in the show... should be o.k. there. At least I won't have to worry about making it home if I do that too... and without the bellhousing on yet.. I'll hold off on making a ton more runs I think.
i also recall The Pike in the late 80's (1988+), and yes i agree it was a lot different. The gayass movie Fast and Furious ruined it for all of us. The year that suckflick came out i got a ticket in the Roy Rogers parking lot for "loitering", when actually i was walking into the place to buy a soda...cop called me out for loitering cause he saw me stop for 45 seconds and admire a Cobra Mustang parked outside. That was the last time I was ever at that place.
as for the Mopar ***** i have never been to the BK Lounge on the Pike on a Sat. nite in 2 years, but i do believe one of the managers is a guy named Ralph (whom i have known for 18 years)....he owns an 11 second 1970 Hemi Road Runner (ok he ran a 12.2 at LVD this past weekend but ran 11.631 at E-Town the weekend before)..he actually is a nice person, you should express your feelings on the parking rules directly to him, i bet he'd be receptive to bending them. i know i will be ragging on him if i ever see him and his crew doing this. count me on for your planned protest.
but hey dont hate me for driving a mopar.
i have owned (2) brand new LS1 WS6 T/A's (a 1998 and a 2000), both are gone now......only got garage space for one car so i gotta go with what i got. besides, you Big Guns need some pressure from the underdog FWD guys to keep you on your collective toes cause, after all, its all about the fun.
He hasn't got an LS1 anymore & though he's got that "blistering fast" GLHS, he's not on our local TD list!
The real reason he's here, he's a closet LS1 owner & just looking for a reason to sell the GLHS & get back into V8 power, really!
