I'm wondering why you didn't go with a bigger spline?

bought it used (80 miles, the car it was on blew the motor). I saved a whole lot of money though. About $900 since I'm going to pick it up (well, sort of. Going to put it in the car in his garage, lol)

I can always upgrade the axles and center-section later if I break them (I don't imagine this'll be an issue, especially at my power level), can't I?

cool man.. should be a good gear too. I kinda wish I had gone with 4.30's in my 12 bolt... 4.22 is a good compromise.

Of course.. I'll be running out of gear with the 4.10's soon enough I'm sure

4.30's would have been perfect for right now though.. 4.22 should be good for where your at too.

Post back the results after the swap.. I bet it knocks a good .3 off your e.t from the 3.42's.. alot more then that if you actually put a tire on that car!

Your 'I'd rather build it so it doesn't break' mentality wore off a bit on me, J

Sweet, that's what I thought but I figured I'd ask. I hope this locker clicks loud as hell like the last car I rode in with one did

I figure even the 31's ought to be strong enough for my power level until I build the motor. Hell, the way my car responds to mods, they'll probably hold fine then, too!

According to Moser's axle tech site, and assuming a 2.66 first gear (I forget what first gear is) then your engine can make 700lb-ft before surpassing the 31 spline axles torque rating. Check the link below:

Aside from my pinion angle issues (I haven't set it yet... DOH!), I LOVE this thing!! The locker sounds friggin awesome around corners, too

I haven't gotten to really romp on it because I haven't set the torque arm up right yet (I was worried enough driving it with it off a bit) but I'm gonna fix that this afternoon and go down to our local "test'n'tune road"
