Default Luxury sedan for daily driver...

I'm thinking of picking up a used luxury sedan for a daily driver. I'm looking for reliability, good performance, and style. I was thinking of Lexus LS400's, Caddy Eldorado's and STS's. Anyone have any opinions on these cars? Obviously being used car there might some hidden problems, but overall how are the reliability ratings for these cars? Also, any good Mid 90's Mercedes worth thinking about?

the 99+ STS are nice. and if ya get one most likely all the recalls and bullshit has already been taken care of. Eldos are nice too, but there really isnt much of a back seat. They go pretty damn good too for a big car. Come down to Frost caddy and ill have one of my sales buddies show ya what we got.

My moms winter car is a 93 ETC, it is pretty pimp. it has 18's, a custom cold air, and a set of pipes on it.
befor the exhaust, it went 146 @ 96 mph
its pretty sweet.
rides nice, fast, looks good, good in the snow, GM loyal ect ect ect.
thats my opinion.

I have a '97 Cadillac Deville and a '95 Mercades S500 coupe that I use for daily drivers (go anywhere cars). The Caddy is a very comfortable 4 door with the Northstar motor. As mentioned it goes pretty good for a big car and the trunk is big enough to use it like a small pick-up The Mercades is a nice, solid car. Plenty of options and Mercades quality. Have to get used to the wipers going in the opposite direction.

I might be thinning the heard soon so these two might be for sale. Caddy has 56k on the odometer and the Benz just sent to 60k.

Thanks guys. I know this is an LS1 board, and by extension a pro GM board, but any real problems with any of the Cadillacs? I know of the Northstars head gaskets problems, but any other real common problems?

Also, for those who know, I know Mercedes has taken a hit in its reliability department, but the mid 90's are still good years to get from?

Tbyrne: If you ever put either up for sale, lemme know. They might be out of my price range, but still let me know. Thanks

My mom is selling her 1998 Infiniti I30. Pretty nice car, very reliable, very comfortable. It's black with tan leather, auto, sunroof, fully loaded of course. 3.0L V6, 96k miles. I'll have to call her and ask to be sure, but I think she's asking $8500 obo.

PM me if you're interested.

I usually say everything is for sale for the right price

Caddy $6500.-

Benz $20.995.-

This one has brand new wheels/tires. Probably been on the car for about 700 miles.

Congrats on the purchase! Yeah I wish I could get a car like that, but right now it's a little out of my price range, or should I say alot. I currently have a daily driver, but I'm thinking a change would be good. We'll see what happens.

Are you actively shopping it, or just thinking about it? I'm not too sure when/if I'll be buying another car, but when I decide to I'll give you a holler.

the headgaskets are a problem on the old Northstars, anything after 96 you should be fine. And any other common problems are just your typical used car issues.

Yeah I'd love to get an M3, but it'd have to be an early 90's one at that.

Not yet but I'll sell it to the first person that gives me money I'm currently staying at a beach cottage at Horseneck. That is only about 1/4 mile down the street from my shop. I just use the car to commute back and forth. Once in awhile I'll take it out to do some errands.

I just bought my wife a 2002 BMW 330 XI. Lots of options, and its AWD for the winters in Binghamton, NY. It is the ultimate driving machine!

Nah, just like to drive something different once in awhile. My problem is that I don't have time to drive them as much as I want (only put 3200 miles on my 300C in 11 months) and I also don't have time to detail them like I want to so it's time to thin the heard a little.
