The biggest reason to do this was incase the pump turned out to be junk or we forgot to connect something we could just go in again through the access hole in a few minutes.
I hear what your saying. I wasn't even thinking of market value but instead, what could happen in an accident with the sheetmetal being weaker in that location.

BTW, who needs an exhaust anyway????

At the point that this car is at, as long as the car ran perfect I don't think the guy would care is there was one or not! He's had the engine go twice, tranny once, it's been hit 3 times.

Anthony1999 if you need some pics of anything or help is you decide to go through the deck just let me know. It's really not a hard process at all.

i vote for access hatch, much easier and its there for future pump failures. I highly doubt it would weaken the car any. But from a shops standpoint i can see having to go the other route of taking it apart and not cutting up a customers car.. Just a thought for you guys, you may want to make that an option to customers to cut the hatch and charge a bit less to install a pump than to do it the regular way. Would save you lots of time and hastle.

The access hole isn't looked at as a quality repair which is why I don't think shops would offer it even if the customer says it's ok. Personally if I was doing it at work I would drop the tank.

i'd just cut the hole..my friend did it on his LT1 and even made it into a trap door of some sort and sealed it. Pretty cool idea.

i know its looked at as a cheap way out but what if gm had an access door there? Than i guess it would be installed that way. Just saying that there are a few access pannels throught the car cause it makes it easier to get to things... Again i know what you mean by readneck way out.
