Mass. residents look out -- catbacks to become illegal in your state? Received this from Jason Tolleson with the Sema Action Network. If you don't know what the SEMA AN is, you should visit their site and read some info. Basically they're an industry watchdog group that does everything they can to make sure our automotive freedoms stay alive and aren't tromped on by a bunch of tree hugging sissies in government.
This bill looks like its targeted towards ricers, but it can easily include our cars as well. Don't let this one pass!

Massachusetts Bill to Ban the Sale/Installation of Aftermarket Exhaust Systems to be Considered by Full
House of Representatives
A bill (H.B. 2011) to ban the sale or installation of “an exhaust system which has been modified in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the exhaust” is on the verge of being sent to the floor of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives for a vote by all representatives.
We Urge You to Contact ALL Members of the Massachusetts House Immediately (E-Mail Addresses Below) to Request Their Opposition to H.B. 2011
· H.B. 2011 ignores the fact that aftermarket exhaust systems are designed to make vehicles run more efficiently without increasing emissions.
· H.B. 2011 does not supply law enforcement with a clear standard to enforce, allowing them to make subjective judgments on whether or not a modified exhaust system is in violation.
· H.B. 2011 would make it difficult for hobbyists to replace factory exhaust systems with more durable, better performing options.
· H.B. 2011 would only exclude “antique motor cars” defined as those vehicles over 25-years old which are used exclusively for exhibitions, club activities, parades, etc.

They have tried to pass this for 4 years. First it was just being voted on by the members of the Board of Highway Safty, but after it failed misserable there countless times, they are bringing it up to all of the represetives. I talked to my local rep already and he thought that it would fail. But I still sent out email to all of the reps on that list just to make sure.

It passed in CT...it's usually ignored because its impossible to enforce. If a cop stops you for it its just another BS charge he wants to get you with like no front plate and such.

Just about everything thats FUN makes noise. So if you want to eliminate fun indirectly just go after the noise people make having it.
Plus anyone that doesn't drive a Subaru or Volvo or someother type of imported car shouldn't have their interests considered. Is it a republican or democrat pushing the bill...guy or gal?
