Default Busted... yea Im an idiot

SO I was down at the philly street races and just won my first race. I go to make a U-turn and theres a police van. right infront of me.

Dude comes up to my car. "What the **** are you doing. Get out of the car." I do. anyway, I get a ticket for "Racing on Hwy" 3367-a. "Cop just says you know what your doing is wrong, right?" and I reply "I'm going home."

So what does this mean. Lose my license for 6 months? A shitton of points? Insurance?

It says i ow 300 on the ticket, but I know theres gatta be more. Also, what chance do I have of fighting iT? Should I get a lawyer?

I'm not worried about may9ing a fine, I just dont want points or my insurance to skyrocket.

BTW im [edit] 19 under my fathers insurence plan. Cars in my name, father cosigned.

Your lucky you didn't lose your license on the spot. You are guarenteed at least 3 points maybe more. You will also probably lose your license for a while. With all the tickets I've had (13 for speeding alone, most of which where in Pa) my insurance has never went up at all.

nope.... I pulled ahead and won the race. Then I see the mustang i raced fly by me and thought maybe he was just one of those people. So I turn make a U-turn and the van was litereally right in front of me.... on the wrong side of the road. THe dude in the other car's friends set up the race... they had walkie talkies so thats how he probebly knew to run.

I just dunno if I should ahve ran. I mean that van would not have caught me. and I was faster than the mustang. But thats no matter now. I need to figure oiut what to do about court.

I thought it was a mandatory 5 or 6 points and 6 months suspension for street racing?

idk about penn, but they should have arrested you on the spot, ur lucky as **** if they didnt... trust me it could have been A LOT worse. if they didnt arrest you on the spot, that tells me that they might not have had sufficent evidence that you were actually racing, and just wrote you up a ticket expecting you to pay it... agian u should have been arrested, epsecially at 16. test ur luck and fight it, maybe they wontb be able to prove you were racing, they might reduce/completely get rid of the ticket. its worth a shot. whats the worse that can happen, you have to pay the fine? fight that sucker

Fight it. When you go, the prosecuter will probably reduce it to speeding or careless, with a good sized fine.
At your age, I'd pay for a lawyer. The impact could be much worse without one.

they can't prove you were racing unless they witnessed you make the agreement with the other driver, definition of racing is when 2 or more people agree to a contest of speed, well how does he know you guys agreed???

Get a lawyer, Don't listen to internet lawyers.

What did your parents have to say?

first buddy you need a lawyer no questions asked and it'll cost you money. if you show up with out one in court don't even bother fighting it because the prosocuter won't even try to deal in 95% of the cases. as for having to concent to a race is not even a issue in pa all the cop needs is to see two cars driving to faster or acclerating to fast(not even speeding to give you a ticket. also I'm not sure what would happen but if convicted you could lose your liscince till 18. pa isn't friendly to non adult driver's. as for insuracne I dont know who you have but most co. check insurance about ever six montys to see any violations and it will go up if you have any. if you liscence is suspended it will go up even worse. The first thing you need to do is talk to a local laywer that knows teh judge and proscuter and get advice from him though.

16 vs 19 will make a huge difference if you have to go to court. But still get a lawyer. I had an "Issue", and the lawyer was the best $ I could have spent. Walked into court and said "not Guilty" walked out 30 sec later, not guilty.

$300-$500 probably. Try to find one that does a lot of traffic violations.

I've got a good lawyer, works in Philly. Fights traffic tickets all the time. Think he charges $350 or so. PM me and I'll get his number if you want it.
