Default Ram, Mcleod, Spec Clutch users inside HELP!

I need serious advice from people who are currently running or have run any of these three clutches in the past. I need to make a decision but everytime i search i hear horror stories from all three. Also, if anyone is w/in a 2 hour drive of southern CT let me know if we can meet up sometime soon so i can see what the pedal pressure feels like, Im looking for something heavier than stock. Thanks for any replies!

every brand and every part is going to have a bad story here and there but you'll find that spec clutches have the least issues over other brands by far. they feel how you'd want/expect a performance clutch to feel.

Rob, which Mcleod are you talking about in regards to a 5.0?(heavy pedal?) Otherwise, have any of you guys known people personally who went through a ram powergrip hd or mcleod clutch faster than normal?

I know people who ate McLeod's and Ram's. I think they are crap for how they feel and the life span.

i wouldnt waste my money on anything else aside from a spec, you've got the spec 3, the spec3i and the spec 5, past that just do what purevl did and go with a custom twin disc setup.

spec 3 here had excellent luck with it so far and alot of clutch issues are due to porr installs . keep that in mind when reading all the horror stories . spec will fell stock pedal pressure wise but hold great and no chatter after break in
seen mclouds and rams fail very quickly and have issues . if what i have ever dies ill go stg 5. still stock feel and fine for the street

spec 3 is more of a street/daily driver clutch...mcleod twin disc is more of a street/track clutch... ive driven both and like them both... and have never had a problem with either.... but i just love the mcleods.......

I had a Spec clutch in mine that never let me down. It was putting up with 4000-5500 rpm launches and never failed with 420 at the rear wheel. It gives me the feeling of all or nothing when engaging/dis engaging. I 60'ed better with a stockish Z06 clutch, cause it slipped just enough not to break the tires loose, but only was good for 4-5 runs,lol..

I had a spec 3 in my old car. That clutch took 4-5k rpm launchs and kept coming back for more! I had the mcleod before that, and it was a piece of ****. we bled that thing more times than I can remember, and it was still crap.

I have a spec 5 waiting to go into my vette in the next couple of weeks. I've driven the 5 and I like the feel and I've seen cars with higher hp numbers than me beating them up and down the track, with no issues.

Just read Bad pewter-z's sig to find out what happened to the clutch I have installed now (Not a Spec clutch)

Ha the old which clutch is best post. Weakest pt of the drivetrain. Well anyway, my spec 5 has held up for a year now. It is starting to slip now. A miricle maybe... I've learned that specs do not like to be slipped. Get your foot off it quickly in 1st. Soft feel, like stock and has held on many a track run. I would buy it again w/o hesitation.

I have the Spec 3 with the Spec steel flywheel, 02 slave, Mcleod adj master and drill mod. It takes being flat shifted at 6k all through the gears at the track and has a good street feel also. Plus with the adj master you can set the pedal where you want it to engage which is a big plus over stock.
