Help me get in the 12s
Help me get in the 12s Went to NED last night for the firs time. Ran the car 14 times. Best 1/4 was 13.01 with a 2.03 60 foot. car is a 98ss bone stock except for pacesetter LTs !cats and an open borla. Car ran a consistent 106-107 mph all night. Running stock goodyear 275-40-17 Bald eagles. The track was awful there was no traction to be had. First run I ran a 16.xx with an 1/8th mile long 3 gear burnout. Oh yeah its an auto with 323s. Only good thing was that I only got beat twice on 14 runs once on the 16xx run and another by a 73 camaro with a built 427 that ran 10s. What next -- converter ??? if so which one.
Tires.... that would probably be the first thing I'd look at A set of ET radials to replace those worn out f1's with would be a definate step in the right direction. Maybe gears after that, and a converter, to get you closer to 12.50, maybe better.
But, tires, even on street night would probably get you there.

Don't burn the street radials so long, they are not designed to get stickier with heat they actually get greasy and slick. Drag radials are a different story! I recommend some M/T ET Street Drag radials and a TC, something like a Yank SS 3600-4000, TCI SSF 3500-4000, or Vigilante 3200-4000. Say hello to low-mid 12s.
My car with a similar setup as yours but a Vig 2800 instead has gone 12.53 at close to the same MPH. 60' was in the low 1.7s, which isn't bad but not great either.

Tires as stated previously, MT ET street drag radials at 16-18 psi. Same setup as you got now and a 1.8 60' will shave 3 tenths off. Run it cool as Slowhawk stated. You easily would go 12.4-5.

Verdad Gallardo Thanks for the replies. Looks like tires are the trick. and do not go on street nite where everyone drives thru the water and gets it everywhere.
Don thanks for the help with the emissions stuff. The look on the testers face when all the green lights came on for the emissions stuff on the obd2 test was priceless.
The strange thing was that after the car cooled off 45min and the air was colder around 9 pm I could not get over 104 mph. The first 10 runs were back to back with ~6-7 minutes in between and they were very repeatable 107 mph.
Anyone know why I would be hitting the rev limiter with an auto ??? It happened a couple times on the shifts. Tranny too hot maybe.

LS1 sounds -- The 1/8 mile burnoout was not on purpose that was my run. I just spun the tires over a couple times before I staged.
