Default Torque Converter Install

I bought a TCI SF3000 for my car last year, I had intentions of installing it on my friends lift. For whatever reason, this guy and myself are no longer friends and I do not have access to a lift. I really don't want to attempt the installation at any of my friends houses so I would like to pay someone to get the job done for me. I got quoted $325 + fluids from a local shop, they said they could do it for me tomorrow morning. They're a good local all around shop that specializes in transmission work, so I'm sure they're reputable. Does the price sound reasonable? Are there any other shops in the Albany, NY area that anyone can recommend for this type of work?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a fair deal to me, it's not a hard job just takes a little time to get the tranny down and back up.

I forgot to call them back before they closed, I'll try to call them in the morning and if they can still do it tomorrow I'll bring the car over to them. Should I have them do a filter while they're at it? I'll do the tranny cooler tonight or tomorrow before I drop it off. That shouldn't take more than 10-20 minutes from what I can see.

More like 1/2hour

The little zip-ties can be a bitch to push thru the radiator, and on my car the nut on the tranny cooler line rounded off (but aperently thats pretty rare).

As for the the stall converter, deffently pay the money to have it done if you dont have a lift (I wish I had )

A friend of mine just paid $300 for a tranny swap. Sounds fair to me.

I really should have, but I dropped it off this morning at the shop. I have plenty of other mods to do this weekend, I'll leave the tranny work to someone else this time. $325 is a lot of money to pay for work, but I just don't have the ambition to do tranny work in my apartment complex parking lot.

If they are a reputable shop, the price is more than fair. You would have to be very unreasonable and un-educated to attempt a converter swap in your driveway. My opinion only, but there's always someone who will dis-agree...WJ
