Default Results from Friday.

If I have said it once I'll say it again, I hate street nights.

I ran 5 times and 3 of them, some dumb *** right in front of me ran all four tires through the water box and I spun the whole way outta the hole. I got 2 good times in anyways with no track prep

Honestly I thought she had a little more in her. I was expecting under 11.6 at 116 approx. So to start things off I got to the track and I was throwing a code, "Insifficient switching bank 1 sensor 1". Which pissed my off cause I just put a new GM 02 sensor in a month ago. Anyways, I cleared the code and raced.

I noticed a problem on my 1-2 shift, it's shifting like 800+rpms early? The needle doesnt' ever make it to orange territory, like 5600. It should be shifting at 6500. This was every run. I'll have to have Don check it out.

So here are some brief breakdowns of the 3 slips I posted ( 2 best, 1 worst)

1) 1.8 60", car shifted early in 1-2, otherwise car ran ok.
2) 1.72 60" I drove the car in "3" instead of "D" this time, to see if it helped the shift problem, it did not. Plus on the 2-3 shift it banged the limiter at 6800 twice before shifting, so screw driving in "3".
3) 2.37 60", worst run of the night, tires were soaked, car went sideways outta the whole, so I left off and slowly got into it. (couldn't give up and let the mustang win )

It's pretty funny how I am always trapping at like 114ish whether I am running high 11's or high 12's...

The only weight removed was the AIR sytem and rear seats. I think I need to get rid of my cats. What do you guys think about these times? I'm running a TCI SSF 3500 converter. I was running almost the same times with only the cam, about 15* cooler, and no shift problems???

i had the same problem with shift points in my car, and we have similiar setups, just didnt want to shift right, would shift to 2nd early or bounce off the limiter. I ended up shifting the car manually and ran much better (shift light is key) Car definitely will 60' better on a good prepped track, thats what i need, and it was 90 degrees when i raced Nice times!

stock tach probably can't keep up with how fast the motor is spinning up in first too, that might be making it look a little odd too. Congrats though, with some little tweaking, you should be able to chop a good amount off that no problem.

Ahh good point, they must of messed up and i never noticed.

Well my other run to compare was a 12.18 at 113.8 1.97 60"

I was running Nitto's at 16psi hot. I would just hit it off idle, If i tried to hold it above I would just spin.

Have you tried foot braking it to the point just before it spins then releasing the brake and mashing it at the sametime......by the way I hate Nittos, I prefer the BFGs over the nittos, but I would only run MT's from now on

Edit: i just read the part where you say you were spinning, I would invest in a better tire.. I hate Nittos, they were always hit or miss with me

Thanks Guys/Gals, it's nice to hit 11's on motor, I think It's got a little more in her. Still trying to get booted on motor.

Hey Nikon what else are you running in your car? how do you like the ss3600? Any weight reduction? I think I might be stepping up to the PT4000 in the near future, after i get my fast intake,

Nittos' are ok at the track but great on the street, soon, I'll be looking at stepping up to 15" with some meat on the back. Only on T&T does the car hook at anything over idle.

JL: i know the tack is a little slow in 1st, but it seems very early, it even sounds early.

What else am i running Love the converter, think i need to go higher though if im going to go for all motor time slips, have restalled to a 4000-4400? Maybe i should change series converters, have had great luck with mine though. Weight reduction? a little bit, back seats, lightweight carpet, a/c gone, air/egr gone...also added a 6 point cage though so i dont think i saved anything I need a rear end and some stickier tires, thats whats holding me back right now.

I should of specified what other bolt on's maybe EWP, cutout, I was just curious other than your head/cam combo. I think my Converter is hurting me a little bit, it's on ok converter but I think it's not very efficient, I think thats basically the difference between my setup and yours.

I keep hearing good things about the PT series.

I'm not really surprised the tranny wasn't consistant.I remember adjusting your tranny alot when I was tuning it in.Probly did 15 1/4 mile blasts on the highway with it from a stop.

The sucky part is it being a stockish tranny. With that setup I have to set the 1-2 shift early because the tranny takes forever to shift it.If it is set to shift at 6600 at the track with full traction, when you get on the street and spin them it will nail the rev limiter due to the lack of traction.(which might float the valves)
Since the 2-3 shift only hit the limiter once I would say the clutches slipped on the shift.
Now,the line pressure can be raised more but it does risk breaking the main pump assembly.

Fix- built tranny from a rep. shop or my guy in Boston. When he does them I can set a shift point 50rpm before the rev limiter and it will never hit it,even when frying the tires down the street.

Some people here should setup a time for a Wed. NED rental. I'll be willing to go up there if 3 or more people go and adjust there cars for them to get the best times

im not sure what the difference would be between the pt series and the ss? i know its different str's but dont know how that all works to well. I've had great luck with my yank converter though, i'd recommend it. Other bolts on? stock water pump, ls6 intake, jet hot headers (kind of crap looking to get qtp), ported tb, pulley thats it for me. Plenty left to be had

Yeah I want to get the tranny rebuilt, Pretty sure I am going to stick to the 4l60e too. Maybe next year, unless its on its way out. Honestly though the tranny feels pretty good, I always noticed a problem with the 2-3 running in "3", fine in "D" though. When I had just the cam in it, it would shift right on the money. Maybe you can tweak it a little bit. It seems really early, before 6k.

Even the time in my sig is not that far off from Friday night, when I was running with the cam only.

I'd be interested in a Wed rental.

Nikon I got the same Jet Hot headers as you do. Are you running their little baby cats they give you?

If your car is ready for the best time it can run, then the track rental is the only way to go. Everything up there is a race car and slow is 8's. The track is sticky and even I cannot spin with the wheels with a 4k dump. well sometimes. I ran a 12.1 on afriday night and a 11..77 on a track rental. Just time your ride after a Derosa car does a 330 foot burnout and follow his rubber.
