Default Island Dragway

I lucked out today!!

I had to pick up a engine hoist I found on e-bay, and the address was Great Meadow NJ.

I knew I had been there before.. just couldn't remember when.

Long story short- the hoist was at a body shop less than a few blocks from the entrance of Island Dragway!!!

So- I got to see a bunch of runs, lots of old school Chevys & Fords, and a Rousch 427 and several nice GT's.

If I ever hit the Lotto, I'd love to ask the owner to make me a partner and I would turn that place into a world class Dragstrip.

a nice start would be to pave the ******* 1 mile long entrance road . and fix the dip at around the 1/8 mile point in the one lane.

then lenghten the distance from the burnout box to the stage lights, and get some better bleachers.

so yeah it has potential but goddam they used to have friking regular light bulbs as the tree . they like just got a real tree for that place..

Haha yea they definitely need to pave that entrance road. But it's great how it's 1/10 as crowded as englishtown. And they need to move those poles to the other side so you can actually see the times from the bleachers.

I have been there on a friday and it has felt like a track rental as far as how many passes I got in. Not the best trackquality, not the best elevation #'s and not the best DA, but besides going to a rental you should get a lot of passes in there. I'm kinda getting hooked on track rentals though.

 I kinda like that "backwoods" feeling that Island has.

It will never be a championship caliber track, but it is a fun track to run. I've been going there on and off for 26 yrs and other than the LED lights, it looks pretty much the same.

i wanna start running my bike, and i think i'll start up there on a friday considering it shouldnt be too crowded, and i dont wanna look like an idiot when my first run is like 14.xx on a crotch rocket, lol. But i always had a good time there, and its more relaxing for me than e-town. When my SS is back, i'll be running at both tracks as much as possible.

i cant stand englishtown. ive raced there once and i was very tempted to hurt some people. i only live like 15 minutes from there too. id rather drive to island.

and why do people complain about the entrance road to island? you drive your car on the street and then take it to the track to beat on it, but you wont drive slowly down a 1/2 mile rocky entrance way? quite contradictory if you ask me

I kinda like the place.. sort of like ATCO and LVD, but more old school cars and less modular fords and LSx based cars.

I wonder if they do rentals???
