mass inspections any stations in western ma. that are near me (southampton ma.)that wont give me a hard time about my catback exhaust on my otherwise stock 98 ss camaro?? Place i brought it to wouldnt pass it because of aftermarket muffler. this state gets worse every year!! I dont like loud cars that much either but absolutely ridiculous, same place had no problem passing my 65 vette or my 69 camaro both bigblock cars with healthy cams and loud exhaust!!

I say check another place out. Ask them first if your catback will be an issue. I had a just a loudmouth on my Z28, I had no issue getting a sticker. Once I went beyond that, then I had to go elsewhere. I'm sure you'll easily find a place that will pass you, cause catback only cars shouldn't be an issue.

exhaust yep, i bring all my cars there. they have a serious bug up there ***. old loud cars no problem but something new there afraid of some fictional liability they will encounter. Young punk gets loud honda shitbox with ethnic pipe on it to pass. Punk gets pulled over and says joe blows mobil passd it . Joe blows mobil supposedly can loose there inspection liscense. The law state on mass dmv website .. says no replacement muffler can be louder than what car was originally equipped with. Thats not verbatem but pretty close. So whats stock sound?? a v6 a v8 ?? what about a c6 vette vs c6 zo6 etc?? My friggin hertz mustang renatl car in orlando was WAY loudder than my 98 ss. The 98ss has a corsa sytem on it ...thats it!! The car came stock with some slp exhaust with 1 tailpipe stock. at least i left before they took my $29 . Of course wife is all pissed...wont pass bla bla bla...whatever some other staion will pass im sure. Just to let you know ther is a petition out there against this mass "law" sema is sponsoring it in someway. I signed the petition 1 week before my car arrived..i guess thats what i get!!

That's super lame. 
I just got a GMMG last spring and "just in case" I timed it so I put it on right after my sticker, I even waited until the first day of the next month since that effectively buys you a full 13 months to worry about it again. But I was really hoping it wasn't gonna be an issue...I'll be up again in May.

CT is just an OBD2 scan now.. good thing, because if I was in mass I'd be done before they ever even looked at the car.. they would fail it from a block away LOL
Car's probably headed for of road use only very soon anyway... next summer will probably be the last year it sees any street duty... then I'll be looking for another pewter ls1 firebird, one I can put all the old race parts on as the race car gets built up more

Holy crap, small world! I live on Whiteloaf Rd (off of County Rd). I see a red mid-60's Vette around a decent amount, and a blue 69ish Camaro too. Don't recall ever seeing another 4th gen SS though.
Anyways, I will likely be in the same boat as you next year as I need a new exhaust, and I'll be damned if it's going to be another stock one. I usually go to Dana Chevrolet in Noho, and he never said anything about my cutout. I've been meaning call the service manager to ask him if he'd pass me if I got a Loudmouth. If you find a place aroud here, please let me know!
