Default Cobra Forged 302ci 5.0L 4V

Just got the motor back from VT.. with stock heads & cam(s) headers, no cats, and a tune- how much horsepower and torque will this make?

Let's see who comes closest (no idiotic comments) to the real world numbers.

The 302 Sportsman comes with all the top of the line components in your VT motor: machined block, forged stroker crank, Eagle forged rods, custom CP forged pistons, file fit plasma moly ringset, ARP main studs, new High Volume oil pump and pick up, new rear seal plate, computerized balancing, professional assembly and spintested..

Stock 1998 4.6 4V shows 305hp at 5,800rpm and 300fp torque at 4,800rpm.

My guess: 320 hp and 340 tq., and 13.5 @ 105mph

What is your guess?

your guesses are probably about on par. The heads and cams really need to be changed to make it breathe. Bottom end power shoudl feel a TON better though

Heads and cam(s) cost a mint for modular motors- like $1,500 (cam kit) and $800 EACH for bare Ford Racing Perf Parts heads, not to mention having to change upper and lower intake.

My goal is to bring the car back "stockish" looking appearance.. down to the stock 98 Cobra wheels.. but to improve it in many ways.

I think your 1/4 mile time is rather conservative. My 97 Cobra ran a 13.7 at 103 in complete stock form right down to the paper filter. With the better bottom end, gears, exhaust, etc....you should be getting a bit of a better time.

It should be noted that I'm one grannyshiftin' ****..

I agree though, maybe 12.9's to 13.1 if I hit the gears in thier proper order!

LOL.....trust me it was the first weekend I had the car so I wasn't trying to kill it just yet. But yes I would say that extremely low 13's are in short order for you. I won't even try to guess dyno numbers because we all know how that can go. But it definitely sounds like you have a nice set-up started there.

that's right there's 2 cams in those I always forget that. Heads are steep though... I'm surprised there's no aftermarket offerings for that motor, it's been around long enough

id say low 300's to 320ish, my dad has a stroked 4.6 with livernios stage 2 heads and bullet cams on a 2 valve with a vortech blower at 13 psi running through a tremec 500 and 4:10s and he made 484/431 and my friend with the same engine combo with a p51 intake and a intercooled p1sc made 540/475

I also say no way a 4V mod motor is going to make more torque than HP in NA trim. Stroker or not.
