I did the diagnosis. I use a scanner made by Vetronix. It has GM OE software. The same as a dealership. It has a cylinder balance feature designed for just that. You can kill one cylinder at a time, by disabling the injectors, and see the drop in RPM right on the scanner screen.
And yes, a compression test would have been one of the next steps, had he not found what he did.

yeah, I wont be going to T&T anywhere until it cools off... I dont even think I'm going to end up running the truck in the index at the shootout either... just not ready. but I'll probably make it down to watch a couple races this weekend and I'll be at the shootout to watch if nothing else.

I definatly want to go to the track atleast one more time before i leave early oct. im goin with some motive 3.73s. Damn u ben if u havent got me thinkin about some 3.90s. i do alot of highway driving and dont want to be wound out at like 70. Also i was wondering if going from 3.23s to 3.73s was atleast worth a tenth.

i dont know if you will feel a real big difference going from a 3.23 to a 3.73.... might be better off doing the 3.90. what is your plan for the car though? a street or eventually a track car? forced induction or all motor? 3.73s should get you atleast a tenth off.... get your tune first.

sorry dude LOL... I had 3.90's in my last truck and I loved them... it was a perfect mix for me for track/street with just a little bottle on it. I know a car is different but after talking to another camaro owner in NC, who has 3.90's.... he wont go with anything else but the more common 3.73 swap would be nice as well... the car tires are just so much shorter, you dont need nearly the gear as something like a truck. Thats why I had to go with 4.10's, tire height+weight. You with the 3.90's will be pretty close to the exact hwy RPMs as me with 4.10's I'd say. I'm turning 2000 @ 65. Definitely liveable IMO...

and yes, we're still going to MIR... I just have to find more tires.... the guy who had those that I was getting, sold them out from under me. My traction bars will be on in a couple more weeks too... deciding on if I should get them powdercoated or not.

How much are you paying for the gears and install???????

The reason i ask...... is most spend around $6-700 for that and that a 1/3 of a 12 Bolt or 9"

FYI 3.73's for out 10 bolts are weaker then your stock gears.....
I should know... broke 3 sets with only 323rwhp on Nitto 245/50/16 Drag Radials...

so any other input on the 3.90s? Im asking becase the only thing stopping me is highway speeds. Ill still be able to go well over 100 right. not that i do that nearly at all, just nice to know i will still be able to if neccesary. The 3.90s definatly are more appealing to me though because as of right now im no different than other bolt-on f-bods, dont here of to many a4s with 3.90s. How much are they worth on the track, a tenth or two maybe?

get your stall put in and the 3.90s will be worth more then a tenth or two. that 60' will drop nicely. youll be able to do over 100.... maybe 130 or so tops im guessing. they have that f-body gear calculator around here somewhere. that will tell you exaclty how fast you can go in each gear.

edit: i stand corrected. the calculator says you should still be able to run up to 160 at 6k rpms. here is the site....
