the 1990 model had a th400
the 91-92 had a 700r4
the 93 model had a 4l60e

Its probably a 12 bolt rear in there. Maybe a 14 if you're lucky.

Damn, if ya got a 1990 model it would not only be the cheapest one but comes with a TH400 and possibly a 12 bolt too?

This idea is looking better and better.

If the 1990 model did in fact come with a th400 and a 12 bolt, there you go, a perfectly rebuildable driveline that will take anything you can toss at it. That would make for a great project, finally something that doesn't need every part changed to take some real power

Thats a heavy truck. You would want a big cubed LS1 for that. IMO a 346 won't have enough torque, atleast not on motor. IMO get a Lightning. What trans is in those SSs?
