Default Thinking of a new project...

I found one like this- same color combo.

I'm sure there's LOTS of things to do with this.. (LSX, Crate, Turbo)

I don't know.... When I see those trucks I think of red headed mullets, missing teeth, trailer parks and banging your sister while you mother gives you a reach around.

Go for it. Those things have a beefy rear end and they are starting to become more and more scarce. I think a nice LSX 427 with a S85 on it would be nice.

Those things from the factory were pig *** slow... but with an lsx transplant, it would be a whole different story. A 454 lsx would probably be enough to scare the pants off anyone that ever came in contact with it.

Thumbs up

I remember those trucks, I think they only came in that color combo (black), at least at first they did.
The first year was REALLY bad (no horsepower but decent torque) but then they added some more power to it and it was a little better...the first gen Lightnings (the 351 NA boxier version F-150s) were still quicker (and a little lighter, the SSs were HEAVY) and of course the supercharged Lightnings destroyed the SS but it's still a decent starting point with PLENTY of room under the hood to add some umm, extras.
If bought cheap enough it could be an awesome project.

I just think your going to pay alot more for the truck because of what it is and your going to chng the motor any. Unless you can get a roller.

they are all black with the ugly red interior. A GMPP is a good idea. a kid up here just got the 364ci with a carb intake on it. it is a very nice setup.

Yes- it's the same nasty red that the Monte SS's have from that era..

If I get this truck, it won't stay red, thats for sure!

if your gonna mod it alot get a high mile beat up one. A mint original motor piece is gonna be a collectible car. I think they made a very small amount of white ones which would be more collectible.

I didn't think they had the 4L80 back then...figured it was just a beefier 700R4.

That's what my research shows... 700R4

How good are these trannys? What rear would be in this truck?
