Default Nub question here...

Ok so I set up an appointment with TTP, for Wednesday. I realize Matt's a busy guy, so I'll ask you guys the nub question.(yes I attempted a search with the worst search engine ever... this site) I have no mods to my car, and it's just getting a tune, the skip shift eliminated, and maybe speed governor adjusted. I was wondering, other than driving out there, and handing Matt my keys, what else do I need to do?

Appreciate any help for the new guy,
Gary

Getting tuned because it has 102k miles on it, and I want the CAGS eliminated without having to bypass the solenoid. It's pinging at high RPMs on sunoco 93. Hoping he could fix that. I'm still listening if there are any other opinions on this.

Thanks again,
Gary

Has all the matience been done the vehicle, it would be silly to bring it to any shop if its not mechanically running good.

Im talking, fluids, wires, plugs, filters etc etc

It's been dealer cared for, I'm getting the maintenance records today, and getting anything that needs done, done tomorrow.

God I hope it doesn't need plugs...

The DR's office might be able to help you with you're "nub" question, LOL.

As far as the car, I agree w/ BlackScreaminMachine

More than likely, the dealer has never changed the plugs....let him change them, wires, and whatever filters it needs. TTP will make it right.... have him give you a $ estimate after looking it over, so there'll be no surprises when you go to pick it up.... WJ

^^^^ unless you want to spend about $500 for the dealer to change your plugs.... i would do them myself. i think it just needs a tune up, not a tune. the tuner should be able to delete the CAGS and the skip shift elminator without an acutal tune.

I have to agree, a tune-up would be more along the lines as to what she could use more than an actual TUNE... After getting the maintenance records, that will give us a better idea of the state that she stands. I would have to guess and agree that the dealership did not do the plugs, or only 7 of them

Have you run any injector cleaner through it? Did the previous owner?

A lot of my other questions would be answered from the maintenance records.

I thought the skip shift eliminator was just a little resistor. Something u can do for pennies.

like others have stated with over 100k make sure the car is up to par with maintence such as your plugs/wires/filters ect. then the tune . also when you do get it tuned dont be afriad to ask questions and explain what your looking to get out of it and the options you want turned on or off

ttp are good guys, ask them what else may need to be looked at and they'll cut to the chase. i'd be looking at oil, tranny fluid, rear end fluid (guessing stock rear but why not), coolant, filter, gas filter, air filter or whatever hasnt been touched.

plugs are nothing really, take off the coil packs in 5 minutes and the plugs take no time at all.

Thanks for all the help, seems it was only dealer maintained through it's warranty, I'm going to have to call the guy and see if I can get anymore info. Dealer's last record was October 2004. Thanks for all the help.

I currently am running injector cleaner through. I need a book on this car, can anyone recommend one other than dealer? Is the fuel filter easy to get to?

Thanks again,
Gary

fuel filter will make a noticable difference at idle and even when your starting to get on the pedal. it should be changed twice a year, they help alot.

i dont know how useful the manual's are. all anybody really needs is a month or two at slowhawks house during the weekends

lol be there this weekend... nah I'm gonna do my spark plugs tonight, and I guess oil, oil filter, fuel filter, maybe plug wires if they have them in stock.

Really appreciate all the help, anything I'm missing?

Is an OEM fuel filter a good replacement, or are there better aftermarket ones?

Thanks,
Gary

OEM is more than enough for a fuel filter.

Ok I guess the next progressing question would be the best plugs for this car, I'd prefer not to spend $8 per plug, but if that's what the majority believe is the best, I don't have a problem buying them. What is the consensus?

Thank you all again...
Gary

P.S. I am only asking so many questions because I can't get this search function to do **** for me, so thanks to all of you who didn't just say "search it dumbass"
