Lets say 10% of the above welfare folk choose to fight this in court, with the Public Defender (18B) Atty's getting $75.00 an hour...

That comes to $18,750,000.00 an hour to hear these cases.

But- of course- that's just legal fee's.

You have to have stenographers, Court Officers, Probation Officers, and associated costs.

Hey Brad- give 'em the $666.66 a month and STFU!

Thats why you take the cost of the drug test and any other costs out of their check. Put the burden of proof on the guy/girl looking for a hand out and not on the tax payers.

I say this is a good idea, and I think we need to take it a step further. In order to start getting the $, you should have to have to be sterilized.... no more reproducing permanently.

That right there would save us so much $ in the long run.....

But it comes out of their check... so the cost to the tax payer would be the same. And in the long run, the checks not written to drug users would save the taxpayers $$$. I have a feeling the cost of welfare would drop dramatically if drug users were cut off.

thats a good point... buuuuut

i was on probation for something completely not related to drugs. i had to pay for my own monthly drug tests and my probation officer. at $20/month for the P.O. and $15 per test, the court sure did pull in a lot of money from me.

Sterilization comes under "cruel & unusual punishment"... see constitutional law.

Just because it's in the constitution, doesn't make it right. Damn thing has how many amendments now? if it was perfect, it wouldn't have any.

You want $ from welfare, your tubes get tied/nuts get snipped period. Those who can't breed, have way more time to WORK, so there's less excuses.

A better idea is to make people work for their money. If you are working a 40hour/week job and can't make ends meet, that's one thing. But to hand out a check to someone who sits at home all day doing nothing is a disgrace. There's lots of jobs out there that people can do if they want a paycheck. The job might suck, but that's motivation to get off welfare and support yourself.

I'm sure there are plenty of streets and parks that need to be cleaned, as well as plenty of low skill jobs that we can put all of the welfare people to work.

I was raised that there is no such thing as a free handout. And if you wanted more, it was going to cost more. I.E. if you want that big paycheck, it comes at a price of more hours, more education, and harder work. There is no free lunch.
