Default Pics of my new daily driver

So I found this little gem courtesy of my buddy who works at a local dealership - he hooked me up with a sweet deal on it. 2000 Durango SLT 4.7L in Chili Pepper Red (compliments Sunset Orange quite nicely lol ). 103K miles on it, but looking at the condition of it, you'd never know it. Its a one owner truck that a local guy bought brand new at the dealership across the street from my work, and apparently he was a maintenance ****. He had all regularly scheduled services done at the proper mileage etc, with all paperwork. It was an older gentlemen who put the miles on by taking regular trips to Florida. His loss, my gain. I got it for $7000.

Nice looking truck, I love the older Durangos (1st gen). The only thing I will say is have fun with the gas milage on that pig, I have three 4.7L trucks in my family (2 dakotas and one durango) and the durango actually gets the best at 16 MPG HIGHWAY, about 14 average.

Yeah, I have 6 or 7 friends that have Durangos and/or Dakotas, so I knew what I was getting into.

Nice find...it looks really clean!! I would have never guessed the milage on that. As been previously stated though...good luck on the gas! lol.
Good luck with your new DD!

My mom used to drive an 01 Durango fully loaded, the thing was a great car to drive anywhere, it averaged 14.7mpg (mixed driving, 50/50 really) which for what it was- I don't think is too bad. Now the highlander hybrid has probably taken over as far as the power/econ midsized hybrid.

Only problem we had was- driving down the highway one day at about 65-70mph, all of a sudden you hear "CLUNK DA DUNK DUNK DUNK" and so on.. well aparrently the driveshaft shore off at the trans side right after the u joint. Called up the dealer we bought it at, (had the 7/70 warranty) they came and towed it, got it up on a lift, the mechanic who had been there for 25+ years said that he had never seen a dodge do this, especially on such a low mileage vehicle. It was a total fluke thing, they replaced the shaft, both joints, and the diff carrier (dont ask me why). We sold it with like 54k on it- we got our use out of it. And it had no other problems with it.

Excellent vehicle, IMHO. The 4.7 magnums are very potent for what they are, once again. GL man!

nice find. I had a 2000 dakota extended cab 4x4 with every damn thign in it, and loved that truck. Only reason I don't have it still, is a drunk decided crossing the center line in front of me was a good idea

I now have a 2003 1500 with the 4.7 motor, it tows my 5000 lb trailer without too much trouble, knock on wood I've had no major problems with it so far, 78K and counting. Hopefully it will live another 2.5 years give or take, when I plan to step up to a 1 ton diesel

Yeah the mileage is all from highway trips he took to Florida. There is barely any wear on it at all, I am still amazed. The thing even looked clean underneath - I wonder if he ever had it out in the snow lol. And the 4.7L has plenty of pickup.

I always liked the Durangos because I am a big guy (6'-4" - 275lbs), and S10 Blazers and Explorers etc are too cramped for me. But I don't want to drive a full size. These are right in the middle. Plus, the Durangos have a much nicer/taller stance than most other mid-sized SUVs like the ones I just mentioned, so it just physically looks like it can actually go offroad compared to them which look more like family haulers.

I'm loving it so far.

Diesel is where it's at. I had an 03 F-150 prior to my 2005 cummins diesel and man it's a different ball game. I'm loving the 18 mpg I get too

Add to that the fact that I will be putting a 2nd home heating oil tank in my garage and a buddy of mine will come fill it as needed, and I have a way to get 55 gallon drums of kerosene so I can cut it myself all winter so it doesn't gel up.... and it's a win/win. Save 80 cents a gallon over diesel at a pump, ten chip it and put a turbo back exhaust and a bigger intercooler, and I will probably see 24 mph on a daily baisis. I am going 2wd on this one, way I see it is if I need the 4wd, then I'm staying home, it snows what 5 times a year now in CT? Plus alot less parts to wear out. I looked at a 3500 ram mega cab single rear tire model that was 2wd the other day with a cummins in it... absolutely GOd damn thing had more room in the cab then a limo LOL, and had like a 12000 lb towing capacity or something like that. Could have picked it up for 48 grand on the spot..... if I wasn't in the process of changing jobs in the next month or 2 and didn't already have one car payment (wife's new car) then I'd have bought it on the spot.

Hell yeah. I got mine not too long ago. Silver 2500 cummins and man am I glad I made the switch over to diesel. Saving me tons of money already on gas. Plus it's sexy towing capacity, then comfort. I love the way the dodges look and perform. Inline 6 turbo diesel putting 300/550 down rated from the factory. It's a beautiful truck. I got mine used with 39k miles on her for 28k which I didn't think was too bad
